@hadleywickham I write a theme function to use for all graphs in a project, plus one function per graph type. For facets it’s typically easiest to add facet_grid() to the function output vs program it, since the col/row often vary across analyses.
@ehlboogie I didn’t plan to but it happened for a year or two before we got married. She was consulting part of that time so wasn’t around all the time. IMO if you’ve had a roommate, you know you need to adjust and living together didn’t teach me anything essential pre-marriage.
I’m not very active #onhere, so I expect my followers are:
1. Friends
2. Saw my SPSP thread on industry careers
3. Know my empathy research
I’ve considered sharing thoughts on empathy research, but only if there are enough people in bucket 3 that I’m not shouting in the void
@mcxfrank Much research on the impact of perspective taking on empathy is based on an artifact of the “control” condition, which tells people to “remain objective and detached”, and makes them to down-regulate empathy they felt without the need for perspective taking.
@hardsci Salary is one part, but target bonus and equity matter a lot too. My starting total comp (base + bonus + equity) was around what some of my profs close to retirement made.
@hakeemjefferson @jennyqshen Or rather, people’s subjective interpretations make the same event different between them and cause different emotions. But your subjective interpretations don’t take away hunger.
@hakeemjefferson @jennyqshen Hunger is caused by one kind of event, and that event causes hunger in everyone (maybe some exceptions from atypical development). Not so for emotions, where different events can cause the same/very similar emotions, and people have wildly different emotions to the same event.
