In a video posted to his X account, President Zelenskyy shows the damage caused by a Russian drone attack on the Mystetskyi Arsenal and Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
He said at least 11 people were killed and dozens were injured across the country.

Efforts to deal with the aftermath of the Russian strikes are ongoing in Kyiv, as well as in Kharkiv. Last night, the Russians launched more than 60 missiles at the capital alone. In total, 70 missiles and 611 drones were used against Ukraine. As of now, 28 people have been reported injured and four killed in the capital. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. A Russian strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra set the Dormition Cathedral on fire – a church whose history dates back to the 11th century. And this is one of Russia’s most serious crimes against Christian culture to date. The State Emergency Service has already extinguished the fire on the cathedral’s roof. In Kharkiv, the Russians carried out a repeat strike against our rescuers as they were putting out a fire at the site of an earlier strike on an industrial facility. So far, tragically, five people have been confirmed killed. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. Nine people have been injured. In Dnipro, Russia struck the grounds of a railway station, a college, and several enterprises.
Other cities and communities were targeted as well. The Kyiv, Dnipro, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Mykolaiv regions were also under attack. This is how Russia shows the world its intention to continue the war. It is very important that there be a response from the G7 countries, which are now gathering for their summit – and that this response be decisive and substantive: more pressure on the aggressor and more support for Ukraine’s air defense, especially anti-ballistic capabilities. I thank everyone who is helping us protect lives.
A thousand-year-old monastery that symbolizes Ukraine's spiritual and cultural heritage was badly damaged in the heaviest Russian aerial strike on Kyiv in two weeks. The attack also killed at least 10 people https://t.co/AhcHx6IDvb

First responders have put out the fires in Kyiv – at the Lavra and the Mystetskyi Arsenal. I am grateful to all the services working at the sites of the strikes, and to everyone who is helping. It has been confirmed that two Russian drones deliberately targeted the part of the city where the Lavra and the Mystetskyi Arsenal are located. As of now, 35 people are reported injured in Kyiv. Across the country, 53 people have been wounded, and 11 people are known to have been killed in this massive Russian attack. My condolences to all their families and loved ones.
We are in constant communication with our partners regarding the consequences of this Russian attack and the necessary response. It is important that state leaders, public leaders, and international organizations do not remain silent. I have instructed Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our entire diplomatic team to maximize all contacts with partners today so that international events this week and next deliver real results for strengthening our defense and increasing global pressure on Russia over this war. We need a just response to this Russian strike. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine.
A ferocious Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv killed at least five people and injured at least 30 other people.
The attack also set off a major fire at one of the holiest sites in Eastern Orthodoxy, local officials said. https://t.co/wziEnq9qY4
Russia bombs the Pechersk Lavra monaster, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in Kyiv. Putin calls Trump on his birthday. Ukraine rebuffs Gabbard's "biolabs" claims. U.S. and Iran agree to an MOU on the war.

Again and again, Russia kills the people and destroys the cultural sites it says it went to war to protect. These crimes will end when the US supplies missile defense to Ukraine and enforces sanctions on Russian energy.

Although I’m currently bedridden and unwell, I could not ignore the news that Russia struck the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, one of Ukraine’s most sacred Christian sites and most important religious and cultural landmarks.
Founded in 1051, the monastery complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest Christian monasteries in Eastern Europe. For nearly a thousand years, it has served as a major spiritual center and is home to historic churches, cathedrals, and the famous underground cave monastery that gave the Lavra its name.
Despite my illness and exhaustion, I cannot look away from what I see as a horrific crime. Russia has also destroyed churches in Syria and left devastation to both people and heritage.
According to local authorities, 4 people were killed and 20 others were injured. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

It is important that the world does not remain silent in response to this latest act of Russian barbarism. This strike on the Lavra is an attack on the Christian community and on the cultural heritage of humanity. There can be no justification for this or for any other similar Russian attacks. What is needed is more cooperation to stop Russia’s war and stronger protection to save lives from Russia.
Russia is carrying out hundreds of strikes against Ukrainian cities and communities, attacking our civilian infrastructure every day. This past week alone, the Russians have launched 1,920 attack drones, 1,790 guided aerial bombs, and 17 missiles of various types against Ukraine. We need to step up our countermeasures against these attacks. We are preparing for meetings with partners to strengthen our defense against this Russian terror. The G7, EU, and NATO summits are ahead. And it is very important that these negotiations result in concrete decisions. We expect meaningful meetings with our partners.
First and foremost, we need support for air defense and our long-range capabilities, an expansion of cooperation in the Drone Deals format, and further strengthening of sanctions pressure on Russia. We must end this war in a dignified way and with guaranteed security. And it is through strength, the unity of partners, and pressure on Russia that this can be achieved in a lasting way. I thank everyone who is helping us!
Here are 10 things the EU and European countries could do right now to help Ukraine:
1. Seize frozen Russian state assets and use them to fund Ukraine.
2. Expand weapons aid and joint procurement, including artillery, drones, ammunition, and air defense systems.
3. Supply more long-range missiles (SCALP, Taurus) and remove restrictions on strikes against military targets inside Russia.
4. Deploy European troops to western Ukraine for training, logistics, maintenance, and air defense, freeing up Ukrainian forces for the front.
5. Crack down on sanctions evasion networks and tighten enforcement.
6. Intensify action against Russia's shadow fleet through inspections, sanctions, and port restrictions.
7. Create a Patriot coalition to provide more air defense systems and interceptors.
8. Launch a European lend-lease (PURL) program with long-term financing for weapons and industrial cooperation.
9. Lower the Russian oil price cap and ban remaining Russian LNG imports.
10. Commit to a postwar European peacekeeping and security presence to deter future Russian aggression.
By doing this, we could accelerate Russia's total collapse, but the biggest constraints for these actions are political will and speed.
With the obstructionist Viktor Orban gone, no longer able to serve as Putin's pawn, Ukraine and Moldova will take a decisive step towards joining the European Union on Monday, as they embark on the first phase of membership negotiations. https://t.co/niBljbL4rS
I am grateful to the UK for taking this important step against Russia’s oil fleet – a shadow fleet tanker has been detained off the UK's southern coast.
It was Russia’s hubris, fueled by high oil and gas revenues, that paved the way for this war, and every decision by partners that deprives Russia of money also limits the war itself.
I thank @Keir_Starmer and all Britons for such principled resolve. And Europe urgently needs to take legislative steps to enable not only the detention of tankers and restrictions on oil shipments, but also the confiscation of the oil they carry. This will certainly help bring peace closer.
The Supreme Court is allowing Republican politicians to wipe out Black political representation and power.
We need to make it impossible for politicians or the courts to manipulate these maps once and for all.
