I arrived today in Bogotá, grateful for the CNE’s invitation to once again observe your presidential runoff.

Tomorrow, June 21, Colombia stands at a decisive moment in its democratic history. The choice before you will test the courage and commitment of the Colombian people.

As the United States Founders boldly declared 250 years ago, freedom and right to vote are sacred gifts from God. To betray your vote for dirty money is an insult to our Savior.

Let me be crystal clear: this is your decision. The future of Colombia lies, as it has for decades, in YOUR own hands. You are a sovereign nation.

As someone born in here, with many friends and family that still call it home, I’d ask that you choose security, prosperity, unity, and the defense of democratic institutions.

May God grant you wisdom.
