Kenya bows its head today.
Raila Amolo Odinga was more than a politician. He was a chapter in our nation’s fight for freedom.
Through detention, persecution, and betrayal, he never lost faith in Kenya’s promise. He carried the burden of our democracy on his back and paid the price for believing that this country could be just and fair.
We may not have always agreed with his choices, but we cannot deny his sacrifice. His voice shook systems. His resilience moved mountains.
History will remember him as a man who walked where others feared to stand.
My deepest condolences to Mama Ida, the Odinga family, and the millions of Kenyans whose hope was once kindled by his courage.
Let us carry forward the unfinished dream of a Kenya where truth is not treason and justice is not a privilege.
Rest in eternal peace Baba.
Senator Okiya Omtatah Okoiti
An icon of his age.
He fought, stumbled, failed, stood back up, failed again and yet he always kept going.
Nothing could stop his ambition. Only death. He set his sights on the House on the Hill, dedicated his entire life towards it, and in the process built a cult-following like we've never seen before.
But beyond that, he left, along this obsessive path towards personal glory, electoral reforms that ensure we have a bullet-proof elective process. A new constitution, and a decentralized system of Governance that, should we get right, should ensure equitable distribution of resources.
This is the legacy of a man who lived, dared to dream, made mistakes along the way, inspired as much devotion as he did hate. But a man whose fingerprints are strewn all over the democracy we enjoy today.
He faltered at the end, as many times before, just like many more before him. But I think Historians will be kind on him.
Rest easy Mzee Raila Odinga.
Some of us studied abroad, the depression that eats at you. Being a foreigner in a world that hates African foreigners will drive you to suicide. People fundamentally understand this, we want to live and work on our land. Stop making us leave
Here is Patrice Lumumba, the first Prime Minister of the Congo who was executed in a firing squad by Belgium/USA allies because he tried to protect his country’s minerals. Shortly before execution, His last words were: “Neither brutality, cruelty or torture will ever bring me to ask for mercy, for I prefer to die with my head unbowed…”
The case involving Dj Brownskin should be a good reminder to have emergency contact numbers. Here's a list I found for 24/7 ambulance services.
RT to create awareness. This may save a life one day.
Imagine this: EABL sells a bottle of Tusker at Ksh 190. Then KRA takes Ksh 107 as taxes, leaving them with Ksh 83. Then they give a Ksh 25 margin to distributors, they remain with Ksh 58. This country is UNFRIENDLY to any investor, small or big!
The high cost of energy (and now taxation on steel) in Kenya is really about deindustrialization and keeping Kenya as an agricultural economy for the benefit of the West. @moneyacademyKE@_ngwata
Pelé passed away today at 82 years old.
He was one of the world's most famous athletes and the only man to win 3 World Cups.
But my favorite Pelé story involves two brothers that became bitter rivals and a $120,000 payment that will be remembered forever.
Here's the story 👇
