I just listened to my senator, @tedcruz, give a speech declaring that the debunked believes (dozens of times over) of 39% of Americans should be treated like the ultimate truth of the land. Now, as the Capitol is stormed, it seems Donnie’s riot Bible is stuck up Cruz’s ass.
Dr. Jack Goodyear is on 101 this week. He offers thoughtful insights on politics during the 2020 election, & we briefly but thoughtfully contemplate how we might examine ourselves during & after the election cycle. You can listen here, on Spotify, https://t.co/jaI4ZrqPWq, etc.
After a sabbatical of sorts, I’m bringing back my online content, starting with Say Shelton’s excellent exchange about “Posthumanism” in an episode of 101. Check it out: https://t.co/gu6oaHwrxO

@SirPatStew uses “tough” to describe the persona’s sentiment in many of these sonnets, & 14 offers some commentary, from a self-appointed eye-diviner, that is tough indeed: dying w/o procreating ends your “truth and beauty”—Platonic aesthetics meet pushy parent. #COVID19
It feels like the early sonnets were written to Elizabeth, even though the clearest recipient a male. Either way # 13 has great lines like “Your sweet semblance to some other give.” #Shakespeare often writes in the imperative mood w/ that lost art of inverse grammar. #COVID
# 11 is worth it for the first line alone, but the rest is a pretty harsh expression for the unattractive (those that “Nature hath not made for store”). They will, unfortunately, “barrenly perish.” #ASonnetADay#Shakespeare#COVID19
I’m not so sure what’s so offensive about # 9. 10 is pretty nasty too, but this one seems to indicate that the persona of these early sonnets is an aristocratic leader urging a young heir to wed and sire offspring. Now that’s offensive 😉. #ASonnetADay#Shakespeare#COVID19
Students, demand that your schools compensate your faculty with salaries that match their education, experience, and services. Only then can you make demands about the kind of education you are receiving or the ways classes are conducted.
“Joy delights in joy”—Happiness may elude the confines of family-making, but those married w/children often claim that joy abounds for them, like the “concord” of instruments strung, “each in each by mutual ordering.” Hmmm. #SaturdayMotivation#Shakespeare#ASonnetADay
