My book "Intimate Alien: The Hidden Story of the UFO" was published in March 2020 by Stanford University Press! Order at https://t.co/MGgN0gD2L4. UFOs are a religious phenomenon, visitors from INNER space. They're a myth--and MYTHS ARE REAL. #UFO#mythology#MythicQuest
@mrjeffknox I would add that Saler's section shows no familiarity with the Roswell literature - as an anthropologist, would he treat the myths of some other society so cavalierly? Karl Pflock's "Roswell" seems to me far superior. /2/
@mrjeffknox I am less impressed. It has some useful insights but is handicapped by its contempt for the UFOlogists, whom it refers to as "true believers." Its assumption that the stages of the development of the tradition are the same as the publication dates of the books is problematic. /1/
A Zikr in Gaza - Can Jews and Muslims make peace through God? A 4-minute extract from my interview with @LuisECayetano83 . Could the Middle East's problem be that it isn't religious enough? https://t.co/vaeYE68i5B via @YouTube#davidjhalperin#zikr#gaza
From an interview with @LuisECayetano83 : can Jewish and Islamic mysticism help make peace? Well, maybe ... and maybe the Mideast's problem isn't that it's too religious. Maybe it's not religious enough. #gaza#jews#muslims

Last week my story "Grace in Gaza," on the RISK! storytelling podcast, ran again as part of the "Best of RISK!" episode. A moment of grace, 50 years ago ... may we see more grace today! Much needed! https://t.co/K8KlAGJydK

My story "Grace in Gaza" just went live on the @RISKshow storytelling podcast! (https://t.co/tputFuSJx1; my segment starts at about 29' 44".) What happened to me in #Gaza 50 years ago. Scary at first - but a moment of grace? #davidjhalperin#israel#hebrew#arabic
@isaackoi Thank you for this. To the list of failed prophecies, we should add the periodic pronouncements of #UFO skeptics that UFOs have been debunked for all time and are bound imminently to disappear.
@PostDisclosure If #UFO#disclosure actually happens, then I will know I was wrong when I said it never would. What disconfirmation might convince you that you are wrong? If it *doesn't* happen? But then you can say, well, maybe next year. At what point will you acknowledge you were mistaken?
@InvNightSchool @JasonColavito But then what's in it for people like Harry Reid or John Podesta, or (leaving politics for a moment) Ralph Blumenthal? And I'm not sure what you mean by "a lot of the believers on this platform are pro-authority."
@JasonColavito Has this been systematically explored? The books I'm familiar with, like Barkun's "Culture of Conspiracy," focus exclusively on the right; whereas the current locus of #UFO enthusiasm seems the *center* left. BTW, has MT Greene ever shown any interest in UFOs? If not--why not?
