As the thread in DataHoarder noted: by far the most important thing to preserve now are livestreams, especially from participants of the attack.
These are the materials that *will* disappear -- if they haven't already -- due to the streamers realizing they were stupid to record.
Thanks again to everyone who has submitted visual materials from the Capitol attack! You can submit any photos/videos (if you've put the video on a Google Drive/Dropbox, that helps a lot!) here and we'll get to it. We have about 100 backlogged entries now.

Ashli Babbitt was shot and later died after she attempted to enter the Speaker's Lobby inside the Capitol on January 6.
We've retraced the shooting as well as Babbitt's ideological journey from Obama voter to MAGA and QAnon follower.https://t.co/M18G0TJ0fs

Reporters also complain of a "two-tiered system" in which "white, male reporters often get away with potentially problematic messages, while female and minority colleagues are not given the benefit of the doubt"
Congratulations to CAMRI Doctoral Researcher @manisha_bot who has been awarded the George Weidenfeld Prize for her investigative journalism in Syria and Libya

Here's a piece of journalism trivia that seems topical right now: The skinny reporter's pad we all use was invented by Claude Sitton, who covered civil rights in the 1960s, because he needed to hide his notebooks to avoid being beaten up. https://t.co/jWwIyf20PK
Mental health expert Stephanie Sarkis, spoke of “vicarious traumatization,” which therapists & psychologists experience as a result of hearing traumatic stories from patients. The public can experience this through exposure to violent news footage. https://t.co/hnGU9QWMTa
I’m very keen for people from ethnic minorities to have this sort of access to journalists talking about their job. I had no idea how to enter journalism, took the only advice I got and ran with it. But it’s not the only way in. Book your space via the email in the image below.

Bellingcat's Nick Waters has collected nearly 100 examples of US police targeting journalists with violence. If you think he's missed any, please let him know on this thread https://t.co/dgw7avSl9P
Miroslav Marček confessed to killing Slovakian journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiance Martina Kusnirova. He was sentenced to 23 years in jail today. The man who ordered the hit, oligarch Marian Kocner, is still to be judged. A rare case of killers of journalists facing justice.
"Internet is getting rid of intermediaries and journalists were intermediaries between the politicians and the public. That journalism is dead. But investigative journalism is alive and it attracts readers and donations everywhere," says @jleonlasilla
We need more of this in UK media. Student journalists are a vital part of holding power to account, and most journalists in the mainstream started off working for a school or college publication
On #WorldMentalHealthDay , a reminder that journalists who cover conflict or work with raw footage such as in open source investigations often face trauma, burnout and depression more than most. A thread on how to manage some of that ⬇️⬇️⬇️

5) Open source investigators have to interact with raw footage from the field. When anyone comes into contact with large volumes of graphic content, they put themselves at risk for secondary trauma.
Here’s a guide to preventing that mental distress:
