Daśa Mahavidya, Maa Bhairavi
Today we honor the fifth Mahavidya, Maa Bhairavi. She embodies Tapas, the spiritual heat, and Tejas, the radiant energy. Maa Bhairavi shows us that real transformation requires inner fire and discipline. She purifies the heart by burning away fear and negativity. For a seeker, Her form represents the fierce willpower needed to overcome any obstacle. Salutations to the Goddess of Radiance and Penance.
Jai Maa Bhairavi 🙏
When we focus too much on 'me' and 'my' achievements, our spiritual practice, our Sadhana, simply feeds our own illusions.
Once there was a king who spent years in intense prayer to win the grace of Maa Kali. He did intense sadhana, he chanted mantras tirelessly and built a magnificent temple in her honor. To anyone watching, he seemed like a devoted seeker. But inside, he secretly wanted to control her divine power for himself.
On one fruitful night of his sadhana, Maa Kali appeared, looking fierce yet smiling. The king stood tall, puffed up with pride, and demanded a blessing. The Mother simply laughed. Her laugh was so piercing that it shook him to his soul. She said, "You have only been worshipping your own ego."
In that moment, the temple shook and its walls crumbled, just like king's pride. Stripped of his power and words, he collapsed and lay lifeless for nine days.
On the tenth day, a single wild flower fell onto his body. He opened his eyes, completely transformed. He was now a humble child in the lap of the Mother, whispering, "I am nothing, Maa. There is only You."
This story is about breaking down inner walls to be reborn. The king's temple is like our own body, and the king is the stubborn "I" that always wants to be in charge. Maa Kali's laughter is the moment of truth that cuts through spiritual pride. The flower is her grace, which reaches us only when we empty ourselves and stop trying to control everything.
True devotion requires complete surrender. As long as that voice inside brags about how spiritual or knowledgeable we are, the Mother will just smile at the foolishness. The second we let go of that ego, she begins to dance in our hearts.
Jai Maa Kali 🙏🌺
Om Sri Matraye Namah 🙏
Hidden amidst the sacred forests of Chilkigarh, West Bengal, on the banks of the River Dulong, stands the ancient temple of Maa Kanaka Durga.
Surrounded by dense woodlands rich in medicinal herbs and home to tribal communities for centuries, this is a place where nature and devotion become one.
The Devi is worshipped through both tribal and Vedic traditions. When the kings built the temple, they did not replace the age-old customs of the forest people. Instead, both forms of worship were preserved, making Kanaka Durga one of the rare temples where these two traditions continue side by side.
Like Maa Kali in Bengal and Odisha, Kanaka Durga is adorned with a garland of 108 red hibiscus flowers. The crimson petals are believed to resemble the Devi's fiery tongue, symbolizing her immense power to destroy evil and protect her devotees.
Shubh Ratri 🙏🏽

The Kali Khanda of Shakti Sangam Tantra talks about the birth of Batuka Bhairava.
A demon named Aapat, whose name literally means calamity had grown so powerful through his own austerities that the gods were helpless and every traditional weapon they tried failed.
Innumerable Yoginis and the various manifestations of the Mahavidyas and the countless forms of Kali decided to step in. Rather than creating another warrior goddess, they pooled their tejas into a single point of resolve.
Out of this divine flash of collective light the form of Batuka Bhairava emerged. He didn't appear as a giant, but as a five-year-old boy, a manifestation of goddesses energy as distilled, concentrated and pure form.
Supreme goddesses Maa Ugratara gave him a sacred thread made of a serpent, representing mastery over Kundalini. Maa Chinnamasta gave him a kapala, symbolizes the cutting away of the ego.
Maa Kalika granted him mastery over time and death. He was also given a Trishula, its three prongs presided over by the Maa Kali, Maa Tara, and Maa Chinnamasta.
Various beings, including siddhas and sadhyas, took the form of nine dogs to serve him.
Maa Adya Mahakali eventually revealed that Batuka was actually Shiva, materialized through her samkalpa and would henceforth be known as "Deviputra".
When Batuka Bhairava finally met Aapat, the victory was effortless. The demon who had terrified the three worlds couldn't stand against the purity of the divine child. This is why he's known as "Aapat Uddharak", the one who rescues us from disaster.
May the Deviputra Apaduddharaka Batuka Bhairava's grace be upon us. 🙏
