"It could be worse! It is what it is, amiright?" Why do some of us believe we must crack on, no matter what? Why do we feel such shame when struggling? My new "Just One More Thing" article investigates where this belief comes from & what to do about it:

How to survive the uniquely Dutch phenomenon of 'circle parties', which I have affectionately renamed 'Dutch Circles of Death'. *WARNING: this article contains wild generalisations about both the Dutch and the British. All of which are absolutely true.

Imagine discovering that what you believed was acceptable & hilarious behaviour is actually offensive, gross & oftentimes illegal. For men like Rubiales, that means reassessing your entire life OR doubling down. My new article (read/listen) is out now!

My new piece on being ghosted by two mates has struck a chord with a lot of people, which is both reassuring (I’m not alone!) & really sad (there are a lot of ghosts out there). Surely we should trust our friendships to withstand difficult conversations?

@kuimwai_@voguemagazine As an expat, this really resonated - thank you. I think you’re incredibly brave to confront these situations, esp when you believed you may have been responsible for the drift. That’s definitely ringing some bells for me. We all trust our own narratives too much. Great piece.
It is not hyperbole to say that this Rubiales speech - both in its tone and content - is more damaging than anything that has gone before it this week. It is deeply bizarre and outright dangerous. A dark day for Spanish football, applauded by both national team managers.
“The game of football is quite unsuitable for females” was the FA’s official reasoning for banning the English women’s game in 1921 (yes, that is a direct quote). My new piece is about the extraordinary circumstances that led to today's semi-final.

I don’t even follow the “Historic vids” or “morbid knowledge” accounts but that is my entire feed. Interspersed with some random who’s ripped off a viral tweet from four weeks ago. My God. It’s such awful shite. I really used to enjoy Twitter 😭 Pls can someone stop Musk & fix it
My new piece is on feeling guilty for resting. For seeing pals. For watching Criminal Minds. For having a bath. Toxic productivity has got me by the throat to the point where if I’m not ‘doing’, I’m failing. What is this nonsense?

At @Harry_Styles’ gig in Amsterdam, I saw him help a fan come out. He was hilarious & kind, & it was v moving. Made a reel of it. Watch out for the comments, “Can I get some gay sax please?” “When this flag goes over my head, you’re all gay!” 🌈🥹🧡

My new ‘Just One More Thing’ article/audio article is about my massively dysfunctional relationship with running: I love it. I hate it. It brings me health; it brings me injury. It brings me pride; it brings me self-recrimination. Bleugh. Ring any bells?
