Both the finder and the responding Animal Control Officer described him as friendly. His owner was difficult to work with and repeatedly refused to retrieve Blue, then initially refused to sign the surrender paperwork saying: "𝐈'𝐦 𝐧��𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐲'𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐠." After additional discussions with Animal Control and law enforcement, he ultimately surrendered Blue. 𝐄𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝. The outcome report lists the outcome subtype as "OWNED," but the records produced contain: ❎No veterinary records ❎No behavioral evaluation ❎No documentation explaining why he was euthanized ❎No explanation of why adoption or rescue was not pursued They also reference an Owner Surrender Euthanasia Form that was 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐝 in the records produced. We're submitting a follow-up Open Records Request seeking the records that should explain why this healthy, friendly dog was euthanized. I saw this little baby, Rosie, is on the red list at Stanislaus Animal Services Agency in Modesto, CA even though there are empty kennels. Only 6 weeks old, listed as a Belgian Malinois, only 5 lbs. currently.

There is a group of homeless people and dogs in North Hollywood that I’m trying to find housing for. The councilmember’s office says that they bring people there to help but the homeless people say they never come. Regardless, it shouldn’t be a choice for the homeless to “engage” or not for them to get into housing, especially when they have dogs that are also suffering and there is a dangerous heat wave coming. And if they are refusing housing, then they should not have dogs.
