#Guinea’s Conde was fervent opposition leader before turning into his predecessor as President. But must have term limits by constitution not coups. Anything beyond ten years is not a “term” – it’s a reign! The old “monarchs” should get the message. Looking to Africa’s youth!
So sorry to see increased violence in Cameroon Anglophone conflict. I’ve warned for years that if not resolved conflict will get deadlier and spread. There is no military solution. What’s in the human spirit cannot be extinguished with force.
Cameroon’s Anglophone crisis is 5 yrs old–but the fundamental problem goes back to colonialism. Can’t understand why France doesn’t see its long term interest is in helping the Anglophones gain their rights rather than supporting Yaoundé's scorched earth policy which can't win!
We all know how Southern Cameroon crisis will end. Anglophones will gain their rights–either in a genuine Federation or a break away state. Whether weeks, months, years, or decades – it will come. Human spirit– like the Lions–is indomitable! Cam Govt should come to its senses.
I use the skills that @JDevermont taught me in his co-taught GWU course nearly every day. It is so great to see him bringing some much needed attention to #EndAnglophoneCrisis, the topic I probably refused to stop speaking about during class.
In my latest article for @Diplomat_APAC, I examine the role of Chinese loans in Cameroon's risk of debt distress. While recent reporting has focused on Eurobonds, it is important to note that those are small compared to the debt owed to China. https://t.co/sfwkC2vDBT
Six gov officials were kidnapped in Ndian, Cameroon. One of them has been killed, I can confirm his corpse has arrived at a mortuary. There are rumours that another has been killed, but I can not confirm yet. Ambazonia fighters need to understand these actions are unacceptable.
In an interview with VOA, Chris Anu (@Secominfo) said that boys under the command of his IG have kidnapped officials in Ndian. If true, their boys are now also responsible for the killing of one of the captives. They must ensure the captives are unconditionally released now.
#Cameroon police fire teargas @ residents during forced evictions & house demolitions in Douala airport area as country preps to host Africa Cup of Nat in Jan. Authorities claimed no responibility for resettling people, many left homeless to sleep in open https://t.co/8jt1SwEqZE
Can we remember...
Marcus Rashford is 23, raised £200m for kids to eat last year.
Jadon Sancho is 21, opened up new football pitches for those in the suburbs of London.
Bukayo Saka is 19, a voice for the youth of football today & helping local communities.

Beautiful. Show of support for #England’s soccer player Marcus Rashford in response to the racist vandalism of his Manchester mural following England’s loss.
Visitors posting notes of support and love to replace the vile spray painting on mural:
1/7 Today I graduated with my Masters of Philosophy in African Studies from the University of Cambridge. My dissertation was titled "‘We had no choice', the emergence of secessionist violence in Anglophone Cameroon." I was honored to be supervised by Dr. Devon Curtis.
