People who have been victims of #humantrafficking provide valuable & unique contributions to #EndHumanTrafficking💙
Survivors need to be part of the decision-making process to overcome inadequate measures in the fight against this crime & lack of adequate victim support.
Children are at great and growing risk of human trafficking: they represent one-third of victims globally — a share that has tripled in the last 15 years.
Governments must take urgent steps to strengthen prevention, support victims and bring perpetrators to justice.
‘We have power as survivors. We talk to the victims, and we talk to the government officials who intervene. We bridge this gap and tell the truth about what is happening. This is collective strength’. - Pachaiyammal Arul

Our work over the last three decades has comprised of immediate and long-term victim assistance along with collaborative efforts to build sustainable rehabilitative solutions. #WorldDayAgainstTraffickinginPersons
Today is #WorldDayAgainstTraffickinginPersons a day reminding us of the plights of millions of victims trapped in this modern day form of slavery. I reiterate my personal pledge to fight this nefarious crime till my last breath.
Vulnerable children across 30 slum communities we work in have no way of keeping safe from Covid as it claims 1000s of lives. Our safety kits cost just INR 780 & include masks, sanitisers & sanitary napkins, so they can stay clean & protect themselves. https://t.co/dv6Ww1dqUH

Nafisa, who dreams of becoming a social worker, has asked the High Court of West Bengal to ensure minor survivors get financial compensation and help rather than face endless questions, rejection, and abandonment.
We congratulate the minor in standing up against her abusers in the court of law, testifying against the heinous criminals, setting an example for many to be inspired from. The survivor's strong will and her strong testimony were crucial in this grand win.
She was rescued by anti-trafficking officials in 2016 and taken to a shelter where she has since been living and studying. The girl, now 17, has been awarded compensation by a court in West Bengal, having previously testified against the three suspects in her case.
Kiya was a star student and an outstanding jewelry artist. She also excelled in athletics, karate & placed high in several statewide karate competitions. Kiya distinguished herself as a leader at the shelter & in the jewelry program. She is now studying fashion design in college.
When Kiya was in her early teens, she was drugged, #kidnapped, and #trafficked from her school in #Nepal to a brothel in #Mumbai by her own aunt. Kiya, however, didn't give up!
After she was rescued, Kiya spent several years recovering at a shelter supported by Her Future in Mumbai. She went back to school and also participated in a vocational training project in jewelry that we offered at the shelter.
