Indian highways are designed for much harsher heat conditions than most European roads can handle.
It’s strange how quickly some people dismiss the accomplishments of our engineers.
European roads look more substandard by comparison.
A few years ago the UK used to regularly send "experts" to other countries to train them on things we were good at - running the London Underground, Parliament, universities and education, governance, cleaning rivers, recycling rubbish etc. I know as I knew about this at the time. It was part of our soft power. Now it would be nice if the same countries would send their experts here and show us (as part of their soft power):-
- how to build railways, roads and pavements that don't melt
- how to roll out air conditioning en masse to the population at low cost
- how to design fridges and freezers in supermarkes that don't break down above 25 degrees outside
I want to ask every conscientious Indian, irrespective of political leaning: what justifies the hatred for the BJP? When I joined the BJP, the hostility was so intense that members of my wife’s extended family urged her to divorce me, take our children, and leave. They claimed we had betrayed the family’s elders and community. Some were even willing to crowdfund support for her and my children. Is political disagreement now reason enough to destroy families and relationships?
When I was young, I dreamed of owning a Porsche car. Today, I can afford one. Yet all I want is a comfortable car that takes me from point A to B.
Age has a way of changing aspirations. Simplicity, comfort and peace of mind become the real luxuries.
Today, we celebrate a very special milestone: our 18th Foundation Day!
Like a well-tended bonsai, true wealth and strong relationships require time, patience, and unwavering care to flourish.

Support one girl, and the impact doesn’t stop there.
It grows across families, communities, nations.
For over 3 decades, Mahindra Group has powered Project Nanhi Kali.
Because every girl matters.
I-PAC founders & employees need to be dragged to court for subverting the democratic process. And we need to know who funds them .That's going to open a can of worms
I’m overwhelmed by the flood of birthday wishes today. Forgive me for not replying individually, but please know how deeply grateful I am.
X can be a vast, impersonal, even divisive, platform. Yet on days like this, it feels like an extended family, radiating warmth. Thank you for being there. 🙏🏽
I’ve always felt fortunate that my birthday coincides with a public holiday: Maharashtra Day at home in Mumbai, and globally as International Workers’ Day.
This year, there’s another reason to celebrate: the inauguration today of the ‘Missing Link,’ a remarkable network of bridges and tunnels that finally makes the Mumbai–Pune journey seamless.
As I turn 71, it feels fitting to reflect on the ‘missing links’ in our own lives…the people and bonds that have been our unseen support, our emotional bridges through difficult times. And the importance of rebuilding those links, and expressing our gratitude.
Today, my wish for each of you, is that you can reconnect your own missing links, those bridges that quietly held you up when you needed them most.
Ambikesh Mahapatra of Jadavpur University was arrested in 2012 for sharing a cartoon of Mamata Banerjee.
After years of legal struggle, he was acquitted in 2023.
His case remains a reminder of how morally bankrupt the state of West Bengal has become under CM Mamata Banerjee.
If @BJP4India wins in West Bengal, this man(Bengali Actor Victor Banerjee) should be honored 🏅 by being invited to the swearing-in ceremony. Because when BJP was a kind of "untouchable" political party in all of India 🇮🇳 & especially in West Bengal(Done by Leftists) in 90s
