I'm open to the possibility of this being recency bias but I genuinely do think that the inability of people to separate critique of an argument from critique of the author of the argument & from disagreement with the conclusionis a huge problem in public discourse.
@ISherrilynn@Jack63342895@HelloGo78598860@wil_da_beast630 If you think it's a technicality you're demonstrating that you dont even understand what you're talking about.
Which was kind of my point. A whole bunch of people who dont even know what formal logic is making silly assertions about it.
@kugraduate@CNN It went to appellate courts a dozen times. The evidence is so overwhelming that no reasonable jury could ever come to any other sentence than guilty. The case deserves nothing other than being over and this social media circus perpetrated by uninformed disingenous celebs to end.
@Jack63342895@HelloGo78598860@wil_da_beast630 "Teaching logic via the socratic method" is a nonsensical statement by itself.
Please show me any law degree where the curriculum includes lectures on logic, because that'd be news to me.
It's disgusting how many people would rather listen to uninformed celebrities who are way out of their depth instead of looking at the PUBLICLY AVAILABLE court transcripts showing that no jury could've possible come to any verdict other than guilty.
Julius Jones isnt innocent.
@TheBeatWithAri His own claim to both his defenses demonstrates the alibi to be nonexistant, and he was asked 4 times whether he wanted to testify and refused.
How can you sit here and actively spread misinformation even though the court transcript showing this is publicly available? jfc.
@kugraduate@CNN The only other suspect is also a black man. In what world is convicting the black man the evidence overwhelmingly points to instead of the black man the evidence doesnt point to whatsoever due to "white cops, white jury" exactly?
@kugraduate@CNN An eyewitness to the murder describing him, 4 other witnesses tying him to the clothes and murder weapon, Weapon and clothes being found in his home, DNA evidence tying him to the clothes, additional video evidence and his own claims destroying his alibi.
@SirClockwerk Revan was just an example, not the point made. But he replies as if that example *was* the point made and sidesteps adressing the actual issue raised in the tweet.
And if literally saying "you're not a real fan if X" doesnt qualify as gatekeeping in your mind then idk...
@SirClockwerk It's not, that's kinda the point I make in the mini-thread.
He's looking at someone complaining about people who *only* care about SW stuff of the past couple years and pretends that the original tweet was specifically about "old canon or specific parts of the history"
@PodPinky @faiz5z@TracyStreeter1@GameOfThrones There were no amazing battle scenes. The by far best episode was the one where the least fighting happens.
Every military decision made in EP4 and onward was incredibly stupid & the individual fight scenes were poorly choreographed & full of plot armor BS.
are pretending to be hardcore star wars fans to the point of making it a part of their (online) identity but not knowing shit that happened before 5 years ago.
You "40 year SW fans" arent examples of the people the original tweet derided, learn to fucking read.
Though what's most annoying is that people giga focus on the revan part as if that was the whole argument.
People in the replies being "I've been a star wars fan for 40 years and dont know who revan is" meanwhile the original tweet complained about ppl who....
@Stormblessings1@Veigar_v2 @iconic_lol @Spawnlol And this creates caster narratives because they often then try to compound on such points if they dont notice they were literally just wrong.
@Stormblessings1@Veigar_v2 @iconic_lol @Spawnlol Wolf going on multiple times about showmaker being forced to back twice in a row because he didnt look at the minimap to see showmaker cancelling first recall is another egregious example of this. Ppl who dont watch that game / dont notice themselves get very wrong idea
The first association i have with argumentation like this is the people who argue that circumcision (aka genital mutilation for no reason) of infants isnt actually bad because "most dont feel bad about it later"
First of all, finding actually unbiased sources for this is going to be hard, esp. because there'd be social pressure to not say that you're regretting blockers/transitioning but not cancer treatment, hip replacement or breast enhancement.
Regret Rates:
Breast Enhance (cis women): 52%
Hip Replacement Surgery: 34%
Prostate Cancer Surgery: 20%
Abortion: 5%
Puberty Blockers: Sub 1%
Transition: 0.09%

@briandavidearp We already had the whole drama about ppl suggesting vaccination should first go to the most racially diverse demographics. It was stupid then, it's stupid now, and I dont understand why you're being misleading here.
@briandavidearp (because the vaccines rolled out to health workers and the elderly first which are demographics which are less racially diverse than the average)
