@hell_doe that episode rules. have you gotten to sisko’s monologue in In the Pale Moonlight yet? (ps i don’t even like star trek like that but ds9 might be my fav show. it’s so good)
@_lizharvey see that’s interesting! for whatever reason there were no goths in my or adjacent years going through HS. a healthy variety of other alt and rural/country ass subcultures but not even a whisper of Type O Neg on the breeze. so i don’t know much about them tbh
@_lizharvey everything is reduced to an “aesthetic”, and aesthetics are pretty conceptually thin objects. might associate the aesthetic with some music, but. i guess you can’t swap between aesthetics as quickly if they have actual meaningful commitments
@_lizharvey not to be all, “kids these days…”, but it does seem like a lot of kids these days think of subcultures more like they’re skins for a video game character than anything else, let alone a whole worldview
the right wing radicalization of high school and college aged men is truly one of the biggest crises in the us and it goes nearly completely unaddressed
@maiamindel been there a few times but had no idea they couldn’t move the collection around! i always thought displaying the empty spaces/frames was really touching
@WelcomeToDot we moved recently but taxes had nothing to do with it—i like government services and i think they’re good. not being able to afford housing, on the other hand, was 3/4 of the reason we left.
@WelcomeToDot oh i used to walk along there several times a day with my dog. would have been keying the shit out of that thing. driving a cybertruck in boston city limits is absolute psychopath behavior
@azninthesun ok so i guess they can mostly tell by dilating the eyes and then looking at them with lights and lenses. that sucks when they do it to me though, poor babies
