This isn’t to say collecting is completely pointless without high monetary value - people can collect for all sorts of reasons. But I also empathize with the idea of someone spending a lot of $$$ on a “collectible” card just to see it’s value randomly slashed w/ a reprint

I’m not a hardcore collector, but I do have a few expensive cards. While I have 0 interest in selling them, part of the joy of owning them is that they’re valuable. Something destroying that value would make these “collectibles” feel a lot less special
