So, the BCCP is using Gordon Campbell to tell #bcpoli that the sky is falling. The same guy who tried to impose the HST? The same guy who sold off BC Rail after publicly promising not to?
Yeah, right.
@MikeLakeMP@cbcwatcher Maybe it was intentional to link the two, the grocery chain and the man behind it. Target the grocery chain followed by the person behind it? Doubt it’s a coincidence.
To the boy from Luseland, Saskatchewan who has never forgotten where he came from:
Thank-You!
Thank you for your incredibly generous $50 million donation to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, the largest private gift in Saskatchewan history, a gift that will serve children and families here for generations.
Thank You for the hundreds of millions you have invested in Saskatchewan agriculture, in broadcasting, and in grocery stores.
Thank you for your investment in west coast port capacity, which helps get our potash and agriculture products to markets around the world.
On behalf of a very grateful province, thank you for all of it.
Wishing Jimmy Pattison a very happy, belated 98th birthday.
@Derricktgoat Having lived it working for a parts manufacturer, here’s how it looked. Customers who had purchased custom manufactured components from us suddenly dropped us and the orders went offshore. We bid to specs using USA materials and were wildly underbid.
Hands off was the rule. September 15 was the stage.
CPP Investments and Brookfield launched the Maple Fund that day at the Canada Investment Summit the Prime Minister hosted. Up to $50 billion in equity. Fifty-fifty. Each side up to $25 billion over five years. Projects above $5 billion. No fees between them. The announcement is a framework. The partners still have to clear their own boards. That is not the same as a prime minister signing a cheque.
It is also not hands off.
Mark Carney chaired Brookfield Asset Management until he ran. Filings showed unexercised Brookfield options worth about US$6.8 million on December 31, 2024. Some run into the 2030s. They went into a blind trust. A blind trust is not a sale. The ethics committee said sell. The sale has not been published. Brookfield’s own chief operating officer told that committee the obvious line: if he had sold, there would be no conflict left to manage. The options rise when Brookfield rises.
The screen that is supposed to keep him out is run by his chief of staff and the Clerk. It covers specific Brookfield files. It does not cover a decision that hits Brookfield as one of a broad class. The summit, the airport concessions floated the same day, the nation-building list: that is the class.
CPP is deferred wages. Arms-length by statute since the 1990s. The board owes the contributors a return, not a photo. Average CPP at 65 is $858 a month. Maximum $1,507. My husband paid in 40 years. I paid in 35. That is the grocery bill.
Publish the recusal on the summit. Publish whether the options are still in the trust. Sell them. Sit in the House and say why the old firm was the partner on the day he put the pension fund on the letterhead. Until that paper is public, “I cannot influence the funds” is the speech. The stage was the file.
Kitchen table first.

I think David Eby is the most rabidly ideological, dangerously unhinged politician Canada has ever endured.....period.
A hardcore radical leftist zealot whose Marxist fever dreams are gutting the province. His obsession with UNDRIP exposes his hypocritical extremism. He rammed through his own "reconciliation" virtue-signaling law, then flips out and rushes amendments when courts actually enforce it, trashing rulings as "unhelpful" or "toxic" overriding judicial independence, and betraying First Nations who co-developed it.
Even the natives are restless. Over 100 Indigenous leaders and groups rage against his warp speed gutting of protections, warning it'll spark protests, lawsuits, economic chaos, and decades of setbacks.
This isn't leadership, it's ideological sabotage, weaponizing reconciliation then shredding it for political convenience.
Tie that to his cozy, conflicted China ties. Eby downplays Beijing's threats while fentanyl precursors flood from CCP-linked sources, devastating BC with overdoses. He skips China on trade missions to "diversify " yet critics slam him for soft-pedaling retaliation on Chinese EVs/steel while whining about U.S. tariffs.
Chinese election interference got him elected. This radical leftist bows to woke UNDRIP dogma one minute, caves to economic fears the next, all while letting Chinese influence erode sovereignty and fuel a deadly addiction crises.
He's not governing, he's imposing a toxic ideology that's bankrupting BC, dividing communities, and selling out to globalist radicals.
I always thought my BC neigbours were radical, but even I feel sorry for them. They're being led down a destructive path that won't be reversible.
@CHEK_News Well yeah, of course. Targeting Jimmy Pattison of Save On Foods was coincidental. I’m curious to see how this all comes together for the NDP with their “Eat the *&$* Rich* chanting at the NDP leadership convention.
@BillboardChris If all “grocery chain” profit was removed from a $4.00 loaf of bread it would then cost you $3.84. Private companies would exit the grocery market rather than go bankrupt. There would be food shortages and black markets would quickly develop for food.
Read. This.
All of it.
If you’re one who says, “oh, I’m not political…”
Read. This.
If you’re one who says, “Government can’t really impact my world…”
Read. This. …and see what this government has done to meaningfully *harm* your world, and that of your children.
What a list. A specific, lengthy, utterly unnecessary list.
A list captured by the man who faced a similar list in 2001 and knows both the size & dizzying complexity of the mess that’s been created by David Eby…. And that it can be fixed.
That it *must* be.

B.C.’s Premier @dave_eby wants you to believe he called a provincial election because of Donald Trump. Yeah, right.
He called it two years early, with a majority already in hand. He called it within days of the B.C. Conservative leader's resignation, after a caucus exodus took the Official Opposition from 44 MLAs down to 25. Trump was the cover story, and opportunism was the reason. British Columbians are paying for a multimillion-dollar election for shameless opportunism.
Eby isn't even subtle about where he got the idea. Mark Carney ran on "Canada Strong" in 2025, and Eby is running on "Build B.C. Strong." Same “elbows up” flag-wrapping, same Trump-as-villain script, and the same hope that voters forget the record. It worked federally, unfortunately. B.C. shouldn't fall for the knock-off.
And Trump is Eby's all-purpose excuse. On September 18, four days before calling the election, he "paused" his own PST expansion onto professional services, blaming Trump's trade war. It was a tax his government wrote into Budget 2026. An all-party legislative committee had already recommended repealing it in August. Eby didn't repeal it. He shelved it with a temporary regulation, with no end date, until the trade war is over.
Because the record is the problem. Eby is an ideologue, not a fiscal manager, and B.C. now faces a record $13.8 billion projected deficit.
What the NDP has already done:
• Raised the lowest provincial income tax rate from 5.06% to 5.6%, hitting every working British Columbian
• Froze tax brackets through 2030, a quiet tax increase every time wages keep pace with inflation
• Legislated a 7% PST on accounting, engineering, architectural, security and real estate services, worth over $500 million a year once fully in place, and removed longstanding PST exemptions
• Paused that PST expansion on the eve of an election, without repealing it, once again blaming Trump for the pause
• Promised families a $1,000 grocery rebate in 2024, then cancelled it
What the NDP is promising now:
• A new Unsold Condo Tax: 2% of assessed value, rising 1% every year the unit sits empty - totally nutty
• A higher speculation and vacancy tax: 2% domestic, 5% foreign - oh, for sure that’s what B.C. needs - nutty.
• A temporary 10¢/litre gas tax cut at roughly $250–280 million, paired with government-set maximum prices at the pump - nutty.
• Government-capped profit margins on milk, eggs, cheese, butter and poultry - nutty
• A pledge to "ensure those at the very top pay their fair share," with no detail on who, how much, or which tax - nutty.
What the Conservatives are promising:
• No new taxes and no tax increases, which Lorne Doerkson calls "ironclad"
• PST removed from Canadian beer, wine and spirits until the trade war ends - don’t totally agree with this but it’s minor in the whole scheme of things.
After nine years, the NDP's pattern is clear: spend, run record deficits, raise taxes on the middle class, then offer temporary relief at election time. A 10-cent gas tax holiday doesn't undo a permanent income tax increase and a bracket freeze. And a PST expansion "paused" before an election is a PST expansion waiting for after one.
Socialist price controls on gas and groceries won't close a $13.8 billion hole. They add regulation and risk driving out the competition the NDP says it wants.
Deficits are deferred taxes. Every dollar Eby borrows today is a tax bill for British Columbians tomorrow.
I fear for British Columbia, and for Canada, if David Eby is returned to office. B.C. is a cornerstone of the national economy, and its fiscal decline doesn't stay inside its borders.
Eby handed British Columbians an election they didn't expect. They should use it. October 24 is the chance to throw the NDP out of office and start the repair.
"For two weeks, B.C. Premier David Eby and his ministers have been adamant – their government severed ties with a Vancouver-based drug user group immediately upon learning it was involved in illicit drug trafficking last month. Yet several NDP MLAs, including Eby’s parliamentary secretary when he was Attorney General, were personally briefed on drug user groups’ illegal activities 17 months ago, according to legislature transcripts reviewed by Northern Beat."
