"They preach Christ best who see him best."
-C.H. Spurgeon
Fellow pastors, let us gaze upon the diamond of Christ that we might herald His beauty week in and week out!
"Evangelism is the unalienable responsibility of every Christian community and every Christian person. While we must always remember that it is our responsibility to proclaim salvation, we must never forget that it is God who saves." -Packer, Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God
"The object of saving faith is thus not, strictly speaking, the atonement, but the Lord Jesus Christ, who made atonement. We must not, in presenting the gospel, isolate the cross and its benefits from the Christ whose cross it was."
-Packer, Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God
"Pride is the poison our culture doles out as medicine. The standard prescription for dealing with inadequacy is to find what you're good at and lean into it....This poison only feeds the problem it means to solve."
-Matt Mccullough, Remember Heaven"
"I have ever found God more faithful and favorable than any father or husband. Trust in Him by the means of our dear Savior's merits. Believe, love, fear, and obey Him. Count me not dead for I shall certainly live and never die." -Rowland Taylor to his family before his martyrdom
"Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man. We shall this day light such a candle, in England, as I trust shall never be put out."
-Hugh Latimer to Nicolas Ridley as they were being set ablaze for their insistence upon Protestant doctrine.
"The test of a church's faith is not only the wording in its creed but also the gladness in its worship."
--Ray Ortlund, from his commentary on Isaiah (Preaching the Word Series)
Pray too for the children who endured this hate filled protest. Pray for the governing officials to enact justice and to work to uphold/protect the law. Pray for the salvation of those far from God who participated and are watching this all unfold. Pray the gospel prevails!!!
Heavy hearted for my friend, @jonathanparnell and fellow TCTN church @citieschurch
A sickening scene yesterday that our country’s religious freedoms are enshrined to protect. Join me in praying for Cities and the elders to commend Christ as they’ve been entrusted w/ this moment.
On today’s edition of The Briefing, I discuss the invasion of an evangelical church’s worship by ICE protestors yesterday, the worldview issues of the ICE protests, and the growing divide between Minnesota’s big city liberal and rural conservatives.

Tennessee football season thoughts.
1. I predicted a 9-3 season w/ hopes of 10-2. After watching the season, I’m still a bit shocked at a 5 loss season.
2. Heupel has some coaching challenges to sort through. On the defensive side of the ball, Gardner develops talent. (1/8)
Heupel has his best signing class coming in next year. We have to address some glaring needs in the portal. Coaching issues must be fixed. To be clear, his job is secure going into next year but the next twelve months will say a lot about his long term future at UT (8/8)

Depending on the game, the combination could’ve gone either way but rarely was a complete game played this year. That inconsistency was frustrating to watch. Hate to not get 9 wins but you control one thing—how you play and we didn’t do enough. (7/8)
