A magical but fast-disappearing scene.
An Ethiopian wolf, one of only about 440 left on Earth, feeding on the nectar from the flaming torches of Kniphofia foliosa, Bale Mountains, Ethiopia.
This is Olha, she was 22-year-old. Russia killed her yesterday in overnight attack on Chuhuiv, Kharkiv region 🕯💔

Wind energy has long faced criticism for its impact on birds, especially large raptors that collide with spinning turbine blades. But a landmark study at Norway’s Smøla Wind Farm has found a remarkably simple and low-cost solution: painting a single rotor blade black.
By creating high visual contrast, the black blade disrupts the “motion smear” effect, where rapidly spinning white blades can appear almost invisible or blurred to birds. This simple change made the turbines far more noticeable, reducing overall bird fatalities by more than 70% compared to neighboring unpainted turbines. The benefit was especially pronounced for vulnerable species like the white-tailed eagle.
The study, conducted over many years using a rigorous Before-After-Control-Impact design, shows that this low-tech modification offers a practical way to help reconcile renewable energy expansion with wildlife protection.
While smart site selection away from migration routes remains the highest priority, painting one blade black is a promising, easily implemented mitigation measure that could be adopted more widely.

“Children scattered… but 8-year-old Bohdan kept holding two balls so they wouldn’t get lost.”
That’s when a russian drone hit a playground in Cherkasy on April 14.
The blast threw him into the air. He never got up.

Twenty-two dead dolphins were found along the Odesa region coastline in a single day - 20 harbour porpoises, one bottlenose dolphin, and one common dolphin.
Experts say this is the highest number of dead cetaceans recorded in a single day since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. They warn that the true scale of the tragedy may be far greater, as many animals die in the open sea and never wash ashore.
According to the Tuzly Lagoons National Nature Park, the deaths are linked to the consequences of the war: explosions, sonar activity from military vessels, missile launches, and oil pollution, all of which are damaging the Black Sea ecosystem.

Before these birds can sing, they must survive treacherous journeys across deserts & seas - only to face thousands of illegal traps & guns

😢Horrifying ecological disaster unfolding near Russia-occupied Mariupol, a city that already endured unimaginable horrors.
Locals have shared disturbing footage from the Azov Sea coast showing massive die-offs of fish and dolphins. Among the victims are rare Azovka dolphins, a species already on the brink of extinction. Despite similar incidents happening before, the Russian occupation authorities are staying silent and refusing to acknowledge the problem.
The sea is dying right before our eyes.
Huge win for migratory birds in #Malta!

Spring migration is over, but the fight resumes in August!
In Vinnytsia, Ukraine, a female stork was widowed when her mate died. She is incubating her eggs and is unable to feed herself.
Local residents have started feeding her.
Freeing our brothers-in-arms from captivity is my personal priority and a matter of honor for every Azov member. From the first day after leaving Azovstal, nothing has consumed me more than working to secure what the Azov fighters who bravely fought in Mariupol and followed their orders deserve — the return of every single one of them home.
Azov works on this mission every day, both on the military front (constantly replenishing the exchange pool) and on the human rights front (through extensive advocacy on the issue of POWs in Ukraine and abroad). This work is often invisible, but the unit has never forgotten its captured fighters, not for a single moment.
Total focus on this must be a priority not only for Azov but also for all responsible state institutions and for all of Ukrainian society. This is the kind of state we all want to see, the one we have been fighting for over the past 12 years: one that is accountable to its citizens who gave themselves to the service of Ukraine, one that is ready to do everything possible to honor them as they deserve and stand by them in their darkest times.
Our nation has repeatedly demonstrated its capacity to defend its interests, no matter how great the cost. This is what makes our resistance to the enemy possible; this is what allowed us to hold firm and not submit. The return of the captive Azov members is yet another challenge, one we can only meet together, by uniting our efforts and keeping this issue on the agenda, above all in our own hearts and minds. Thank you to everyone who consistently supports Azov on this path.
Hundreds of Azov members, now entering their fifth year in captivity, are counting on us. Even in Russian concentration camps, constrained in what they can do, under torture and relentless pressure, they still find ways to support one another. We, with our freedom, our voice, and our capabilities at every level, are obligated to act.
A Belarusian volunteer, former political prisoner Tsikhan Kliukach, was killed fighting for Ukraine. He was only 23.
After his release from Lukashenka’s prison, Tsikhan chose to defend Ukraine’s freedom against Russian aggression.
We will always remember him as a hero.
