@thedaywar90 What do I think about it? I think that 75% of Americans have at least one foot in reality and the other 25% are members of a deranged cult. He's hiding from justice and getting rich behind the curtain of a gutless and cowardly republican majority. That's what I think. You?
Err, let me stop you there...
Remember that Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine on "day one," but during his first call with Putin, they chatted about their "shared history" and discussed how Trump could help Putin realize his goals and assist Russia in seizing control of a large chunk of Ukrainian land.
Immediately after the phone call, Trump began ranting about how this war is Ukraine's fault for not conceding its territory to Putin. This is also when Trump started insulting Zelensky in public, repeatedly referring to him as a "dictator."
Trump also left Ukraine out of peace talks while him and his allies publicly denigrated Zelensky and Ukraine's leadership for weeks, and without uttering one word of rebuke for Putin.
In fact, JD Vance himself conveyed that our European allies were more of a threat to us than Russia, all while Trump was issuing threats against friendly nations and escalating economic and diplomatic tensions between us, our closest trade partners and NATO allies.
The Heritage Foundation even just called for the end to the European Union. Republicans want to weaken NATO and undermine defense coordination between the US and the EU. This includes cutting off US intelligence sharing as well.
The goal is a Russia friendly foreign policy agenda that aligns with the interests of authoritarian leaders like Putin and Orban.
If they can legitimize Putin's regime, and justify his invasion, they can also legitimize the same kind of economic tyranny, performative elections, and dictatorship in the US and even make a strong case for the US's own foreign military pursuits.
Trump likes to say that this war would have never happened under his watch, but he conveniently forgets that he failed to "negotiate" a peace during his first term when Russian sponsored forces were waging war inside of Ukraine's borders throughout his entire presidency.
Trump had the gall to call Zelensky a "dictator without elections," ignoring that Ukraine's constitution forbids elections during war time, and that Putin—an *actual* dictator—has held on to power for a quarter century through elections that have been widely deemed fraudulent by the international community.
The truth is, Trump likely helped accelerate this war in the first place. He even previously called Putin's invasion of Ukraine "genius" and "savvy."
Trump has threatened to withdraw from NATO on a number of occasions. His foreign policy decisions have weakened our western alliances. He's also been known to parrot Kremlin talking points and propaganda; reiterating some of Putin's favorite justifications for invading Ukraine and his whitewashing of Russia's military history. Trump has even repeated Kremlin propaganda about the annexation of Crimea.
And every "deal" Trump has tried to negotiate so far in his second term has involved either extorting Zelensky or giving into Putin's pressures, and without providing any real specific security guarantees for Ukraine in return.
Over the course of his presidencies, Trump's actions and rhetoric have helped empower Putin. Trump has defended him on more than one occasion, even siding with him over our own intelligence agencies on matters of national security.
Trump aided Russian proxy wars in Syria; allowing Russian backed forces to seize US military outposts and fill the power void left by Trump's withdrawal and his abandonment of the Kurds.
Mind you, the Kurds have fought alongside US troops in more wars than Captain bone spurs.
Trump actually once suggested that the US partner with Russia on a cyber security task force. It received swift, bipartisan backlash from lawmakers who had to remind Trump that Russia continues to be one of the US's most dangerous cyber security threats.
(PART ONE OF TWO)
Since Trump took office, he and his administration have worked tirelessly to harass and attack our allies with rants, tariffs and threats of war. We are a pariah among our once close allies.
Europe has now turned away from us.
When a U.S. president decides to create a SHAM peace group for billionaires that includes THREE autocrats; one being a war criminal who is murdering Ukrainians daily, it shows that we have reached a disturbing and dangerous period in our history.
@Mollyploofkins@AlanKohler I’m not a believer but I still watched the funeral proceedings of Pope Francis last night (AUS EST) and when Trumpty Dumpty popped up it occurred to me his only thoughts were likely, “I want my funeral bigger and without the cheap wood coffin - those are for suckers and losers”.
Tesla has faced multiple discrimination lawsuits in recent years, including:
▪️ In 2021, ordered to pay $137M to Black man who reported racist harassment
▪️ 6 women suing for sexual harassment
▪️ A Black woman is also suing over "rampant" racism, conditions like "Jim Crow era"
California is suing Elon Musk's Tesla, alleging it runs a "racially segregated" workplace and discriminates against Black employees.
Black workers report being concentrated in parts of its factory (one called "the plantation" by other workers) and hearing slurs up to 100x daily.
The damage from these asinine tariffs will be immediate. Projections indicate that we’ll slip into a recession by Q2, and many people will lose their jobs.
But the deeper, more pernicious impacts will be far worse. Companies will shift their supply chains outside the U.S., our exports will be hit with retaliatory tariffs, and other nations will form free trade agreements that leave America out.
The long-term, unrealized economic consequences could set Americans back a generation.
And the worst part? It was all entirely avoidable.
Thousands of the best experts at FDA, NIH, and all across HHS are being terminated right now.
These are the people who make sure the medications you and your children take are safe.
These are the people who perform and oversee research on cancer, infant health, and so so so much more.
These are the people who make sure new devices that physicians and patients use are effective.
These are the people who keep workers safe on the job and help prevent devastating injuries for workers all around the country.
These are the people who track what drugs and medications are experiencing shortages so we can adapt.
These are the people who help tackle HIV and other infectious diseases, asthma, lead poisoning, and everything else that makes many Americans sick.
And now, thousands of them are gone.
There is no way this makes Americans healthier.
We will regret this.

@RpsAgainstTrump I thought I couldn’t despise anybody more than Kayleigh McEnany. But Karoline Leavitt has risen to the occasion! As for the U.S. being the only reason why France isn’t speaking German, she should go back 250 years ago and remember how the French helped us win our independence.
