The Bears’ Board of Directors voted Thursday to advance the stadium development in Hammond, Indiana, with the exact to be selected. This is this first time that the Bears’ board has voted on any stadium site.
As one source said, “There is more work to do but barring anything very strange, it’s a done deal.”
Okay. Couple things.
1. Illinois set themselves up to face whatever draw they got. They don’t choose who they face in the tourney
2. Houston IN Houston was arguably the hardest S16 draw of the tourney
3. How do Florida fans feel about Iowa?
Final freaking four baby.
Bringing back a tweet from last season:
Pregame #illini stat: since seeding began in 1978, Illinois mbb has only won THREE games as a lower seed. 2004 vs Cincinnati (5-4), 2011 vs UNLV (9-8), and last year vs Iowa State (3-2).
Let’s see if they can make it four tonight.

People are going to continue to blame JB and the state for this and there’s some validity to that. But Indiana billionaires/lawmakers willing to blatantly rip off their taxpayers makes this extremely tough for Illinois if they’re not willing to do the same. Take your pick.
Indiana is giving ALL the revenue of the proposed stadium to the Bears (as outlined in their lease). That in itself is a ripoff for Indiana taxpayers who are helping foot the bill for the publicly funded stadium.
That is extremely hard for Illinois to compete
