Eagles/Falcons 2017: the Underdog Run Begins.
After Carson Wentz went down, the #1 seeded Eagles did something that had never happened before: they opened as underdogs to a 6th seed Falcons who won the NFC the year before. They embraced it.
The offense started slow, but got a massive break when Nick Foles pass bounced off a Falcons DB’s knee and into Torrey Smith’s hands, setting up a crucial end of half FG.
From there, the defense took over. Dominant all game, it delivered one of the most iconic moments in Eagles history: the final goal line stand, with Jalen Mills locking up Julio Jones on 4th and goal.
Eagles won 15–10 and punched their ticket to their first NFC Championship Game since 2008.
