Christians, it is wise (and long passed time) for us to pray. This country is not our home, it is not our hope, it is not our future glory. In this hour, rest on him who was and who is and who is to come.
"Venture on him venture wholly. Let no other trust intrude."
John Calvin wrote this to King Francis I of France 485 years ago! And doesn’t it prove God’s word, “there is nothing new under the sun,” Ecclesiastes.
Reminds me precisely of how people view God’s truth and His people today. But where are the bold contenders for the faith?!
“‘Folly’ and ‘ignorance’ are how they describe God’s assured truth; ‘simple folk’ is what they call those who are so dear to the Lord that he has made them privy to the secrets of his heavenly wisdom. Such is the shame they all feel for the gospel!”
Calvin to Francis I, 1535
My journey through the Bible in 2021 starts tomorrow. There’s still time to join the plan and go deeper with God’s word this next year. Will you join me? https://t.co/qph6JmwjQb
Can’t wait to start again in a couple days! If you’re interested in a one year, whole-Bible reading plan, get ahold of me and I can add you to the 2021 plan and we can journey through God’s word together! https://t.co/bSNknEWw1O
Good article from a pastor in Africa. I’m so thankful for many people at @thevillagemi who embody one or more of these aspects. I hope I am these within my church family. As we approach 2021 let’s resolve to be more meaningful members of our churches. https://t.co/YVi1FMvCj6
It’s almost a new year! If you struggle with daily Bible reading a reading plan can help tremendously, I know it has for me! Join me on this journey through God’s Word and know the Lord better through his written revelation to us! https://t.co/qph6JmwjQb
I’m excited to open God’s Word with His Church tomorrow! Psalm 107 and seven reasons for the redeemed of the Lord to say so:
-He Redeems
-He Sustains
-He Frees
-He Forgives
-He Guides
-He is Just
-He Raises Up
Join us as we sing, as we pray, and as we hear from God’s Word, and as we fellowship as the family of God this last Sunday in the year 2020! It’s been a difficult year, but there is much to praise God for! Join us!
Christian, be insistent! The gospel is trustworthy! May the grace God, flowing from Christ’s death for our sin and resurrection power, help us to learn and maintain careful devotion to good works. May we stand in awe and give glory to God for the Good News of our salvation!
“Every church member ought to ask, ‘With the unique gifts God has given me and the Spirit of God who lives in me, how can I make disciples today right where I live?’” David Platt, in forward to Andy Johnson’s Missions: How the Local Church Goes Global
Praying this morning for Christians everywhere, and specifically my church family at @thevillagemi. Praying that we would joyfully sing God’s praise, that we would humbly receive God’s Word, and that we would lovingly embrace God’s people!
The Virgin Birth of Jesus is a primary issue! “Drums, chairs, dress, and usually Bible versions” is a secondary issue! Know the difference and fight for what matters! There are big battles coming, unity is going to be essential! #TheGospel
Gospel proclamation gives CERTAINTY.
"to write an orderly account...that you may have certainty concerning [what] you have been taught" (Lk 1:3–4)
"know for certain that God that made him both Lord & Christ" (Acts 2:36)
Abraham was "fully convinced" of God's ability (Rom 4:21)
