A family member from my wife's side inherited a huge amount of money. She wants to buy a brand new car, go on an expensive holiday trip and would like to buy a new sailing boat. I told her to invest at least half of it in an index fund.

This way, 10 or 20 years from now she could easily retire with a hefty sum of money because she's late 20's.

She laughed at me.

And then she said: "You're boring and taking too much risk."

@Sandeman52 I'm always skeptical about who I'd truly genuine about their performance. It to easy nowadays to "cheat." Still, I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt before proven wrong though. Some are truly outstanding I must admit.

@goooonnney I don't know. If I need +10% a year, every year... I don't think so. But a +10% year average over 20 years should be doable and is also my goal.

@dividendology I'd say operating cashflow as free cash flow is sometimes depressed due to (heavy) investments. This might look like free cash flow isn't growing YoY but it does over a 10yr period with some years showing depressed levels.

@RoaringHammy Our current rate is at 20% currently. Anything above that is a bonus. We're able to boost that to around 30% when our daughter goes to school next year. Kindergarten is more expensive than school.

@danhinvesting That rough. My partner and I don't have the car payments anymore as we repaid them last year. Was around 600 too and we don't have any debt repayments left nor nursery fees so that adds up.

All the metrics are looking favorable for $META and it stock is finally taking action.

The price pressure was immense lately. There could be some resistance around the $680 level. Nice bounce from the $550 level we saw in August.

In Q2, U.S. ARPU rose 31% YoY.
International ARPU increased 17%.
U.S. revenue per hour grew 27% YoY.
Instagram’s U.S. daily active user time spent increased 12% YoY.
Total Q2 revenue reached $60.8 billion, an increase of 28% YoY.

@NoLimitGains I currently have roughly $25k at 34. I'm outperforming the US median as a European. I might consider this as a good thing. The gap is brutal though.

@IndexAndForget No it's good as it is. If markets become open 24/7 even more market inefficiencies will occur, which is better for the patient investor. But, as we've seen in the past 5 years, the stock market behaved in a crazy manner from time to time.

@RoaringHammy 55 is a good age to retire. Personally I prefer 45 but thats probably not attainable/sustainable for most people. I'm with. Let's see where this goes.

I've only been posting for about 2 weeks now, 3 times a day and try to reply to as much people as possible with genuine conversations. In the past week I've "violated" X rules.
