Cable TV is the worst invention of our civilization. TV sucks, with a 2:1 ratio of poor content to commercial brain rot and a big price tag. But it has somehow fried 70% of the last 3 generations.
Tired of this excuse. First of all, social security is not something you “pay into.” If it were, you wouldn’t need younger people to “pay into it” in order to get your check. But you do. Because this is a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. What you really mean to say is that your money was stolen from you — which it was — and now you want to steal from younger people to get restitution. That’s the actual case you’re making and it’s exactly as morally deranged as it sounds.
Second, your generation continually for decades voted for politicians who would keep the scheme going. You might not have invented social security, but you damn sure made certain it kept going. Why should younger people have to pay the price for the shitty policies you supported?
Third, you “paid into” social security in a different time. The country is now bankrupted and 40 trillion dollars in debt, and basic things like housing are prohibitively expensive. It wasn’t like that when you were young, because your generation of leadership created this problem.
So the theme here is that there are a bunch of problems you guys either created or contributed to. You can choose to pay the price for that now, or force your grandchildren to pay the price so you can live comfortably until you die and leave them holding the bag. You’ve chosen the latter, and I think that’s wrong. Simple as that.

Deer when Im honking at them to get them off the road: gods of Zen Buddhism. Incapable of perceiving any part of the physical world. Fully immersed in the depths of their own mind

I watched a man film his daughter's first steps and he watched it through the screen. she walked toward him and he was not there he was in the rectangle and she reached for a ghost. that is the whole thing now. we are building a perfect archive of a life no one attended
Story time:
Me and my wife enjoy a small luxury, fresh blueberries on our cereal in the morning, which I buy at ≈ $2.50 a pint every single week excepting a couple weeks a year when the prices are higher, or the 2 months I pick them from my own bushes.
Blueberries have a country of origin stamp requirement. Every year, I watch as my blueberry source marches from Chile and Argentina up through Central America, through the States and into Canada, only to repeat.
All for a consistent 2.50 a pint, week after week, year after year.
The "food system" makes this not only possible, but profitable to all involved, just so I can live like a king and have fresh fruit on my Cheerios.
The modern world is amazing and we don't appreciate the bounty that we have at our fingertips nearly enough.
I will say again that it is egregious to be showing trailers for R-rated movies during NFL games. I'm watching Chargers-Texans with my 7-year-old. He should not be confronted with a graphic trailer for a lurid horror film like "The Housemaid." Just stop it.
I love living in Michigan but one thing I think we’re missing here is more road closures. There’s so many times when I’m driving and I think to myself “you know what, I really wish two of these lanes were closed for no reason for an undisclosed amount of time.”
I'm tired of hearing about the Tuskegee Airmen. The *actual* most successful air unit in the European Theater in WWII was the 56th Fighter Group, known as "Zemke's Wolfpack" after its leader Colonel Hubert Zemke.
The 56th destroyed 674.5 enemy aircraft in air to air combat--6 TIMES the number of air-to-air victories of the Tuskegee Airmen (112).
Even though Zemke's Wolfpack was arguably the best air unit in WWII you've never heard about them because they were White. You've heard about the Tuskegee Airmen because they were Black.
Literal DEI.
