A PM is a step function. Everyone prices the same binary event. At resolution, some participants get 1, the rest get 0.
A perp is a sum of pricing curves. Long-term investors, short-term traders, market makers, hedgers, all overlapping at different time horizons. The price you see is the superposition.
Take binary PMs "will X > K at time T" across every strike K, integrate their prices over K, and you recover spot. A perp is what that integral tracks, continuously, via funding.
