Wildfire smoke from Canada has moved into Greater Cleveland, bringing what WKYC Senior Meteorologist Matt Wintz says could be “some of the worst air quality we’ve had in Cleveland.”
Greater Cleveland is under a Code Maroon Air Quality Alert, the highest air quality warning issued by NOACA.
The Ohio EPA has also issued an Air Quality Advisory statewide. Health officials recommend avoiding prolonged outdoor activity, especially for children, older adults, and anyone with heart or lung conditions, while everyone else should consider limiting time outside as well.
Forecasters say the smoke is expected to continue impacting Northeast Ohio into Friday.
The City of Cleveland has also extended hours at several Neighborhood Resource and Recreation Centers to provide residents with safe, air-conditioned spaces. Outdoor recreation activities have been canceled, and city pools are closed for the day because of the air quality alert. (See the final slides for details.)

Ya I'm back and I'm still a #BallKnower
Stream east shut down and RedZone adding commercials on the same day?
This is worse than what the crooked left tried to claim that January 6th was.
Sad day for the #BallKnower society
Just slammed a 12 oz wagyu steak and a bottle of Trump Bordeaux wine. Leaving the Midwest on a high note before moving back to the ocean.
Enjoy your Burger King, liberals! #BallKnower
Happy #NoKingsDay everyone!
So good to see so many Americans band together to fight the evils of monarchy and liberalism! Feels good to live in a democracy with President Trump instead of a country with some goofy king like England!
England has no #BallKnowers
@propjoe757@BuckeyeNatty Pretty sure CJ wasn’t even born back then. You are not a #BallKnower. Please relegate yourself to Reddit and come back when you aren’t stupid. Have a good day
