Interested in learning about how we @ICI3D approach building epidemiological modelling capacity in Africa? I've just published this article with @jd_mathbio:

Such an honour to share #SACEMA#WAD2022 lecture with @LeighJohnson9 and to reflect on the incredible progress against #HIV of the past decade, what modellers got right and wrong, and what the future could hold; and so many special collaborations along the way. @MRC_Outbreak
Congratulations to all on SPI-M-O for receiving the Weldon Prize last week for their work during the pandemic. @JuniperConsort1 co-lead Prof Julia Gog was honoured to jointly accept the award with @GrahamMedley on behalf of SPI-M-O. Find out more here: https://t.co/AXHEuCrV0e
📣 Join us for the next @cmmid_lshtm seminar!
@KadzoKombeW will discuss "different ways to think about & use information on viral diversity".

It's been a pleasure to work with Wirichada Pan-ngum, Hannah Clapham, and Jeanette Dawa on putting this together and to see (1/2)

Talk to me about using pseudo-absences in epidemiological studies. I'm seeing it a lot in ecological studies, but have been asked to apply it in a cancer study... I'm not super clear on how this will work and would love to hear from others (1/2)

Some summary thoughts:
- specific: recent MPX paper does NOT say heterogeniety / homophily *caused* incidence trends we see now
- says "can explain"
- I think herd immunity threshold (HIT) is a useful framework idea, like energy
- but: we have (1/2)
I'm now at @[email protected]
I've used https://t.co/PbQK3f3dD1 to find people I follow here on #Mastadon... but so far only about 1/4 of the people I've found there are women. Ladies, please come join us!
Nice new paper using comparative modelling to examine at the effect of HIV on cervical cancer elimination in South Africa, including the MicroCOSM-HPV model developed by @LeighJohnson9 and #SACEMA's @carivs

Can’t recommend this workshop highly enough! Two weeks learning principles of software engineering and applying them directly to your own scientific programming project. I attended in Jan 2020, and it set the stage for a lot of the work I did during the pandemic. Apply today!
We’re excited to announce that the awesome Software Engineering for the Applied Mathematical Sciences (#SEAMS) is now part of @ICI3D!
#SEAMS 2023 will@be held 27 Feb - 10 Mar in Stellenbosch. Applications are open!
