I’m not a Baptist historian, but I’m pretty sure religious freedom and religious tolerance have been something Baptists have historically affirmed for over 100 years. Which is why having William Wolfe, a staunch advocate for Christian Nationalism, contradicts the BF&M.
A 🧵:
Trying to figure out what does it say about the SBC that Donald J. Trump will appear digitally at a luncheon with Al Mohler to promote Christian Nationalism at a luncheon held during the annual gathering of the SBC? Fresh on the heels of a felony conviction; facing trials for illegally removing classified documents from the government to his home in Florida; voice recordings made public of him asking state officials in Georgia to somehow miraculously and mysteriously find him thousands & thousands of additional votes; under trial for spearheading & participating in January 6 attack on the Capitol……I’m completely floored that Donald J. Trump would address the SBC in any context. What’s clear now is, the SBC’s rejection and ridicule of Bill Clinton had nothing at all to do with character. They rejected his political views, and used character as a ruse. Al Mohler owes Bill Clinton an apology, by his own admission. Yet, he’s not only failed to grant the well deserved apology to Clinton, he’s doubling down by embracing Trump on a platform in association with the annual SBC gathering. This is extremely baffling, duplicitous, & speaks volumes about the soul of the SBC.
VP: You know, there's something happening in our country where some people would suggest that the measure of strength is based on who you beat down. That's perverse. The true measure of strength is based on who you lift up.
@McClinton First off, listening to these two versus the "hot take" ish on all the networks is refreshing. Also hard to argue Shaq dominance when he makes the "need to keep 3 bigs on the roster"
Huckabee: I think there are two virtues. Loyalty and confidentiality. Be loyal to the people who helped you and learn how to keep your mouth shut. If you have information that could be hurtful to someone, be confidential
@SGender Best game of the tourney so far IMO. (regards to UCLA/ZAgs but when a team does not score for 10 min... well) both teams at such a high level most of the game. I thought Hauser was gonna shoot that as well off the shot-fake... the tourney can be cruel sometimes.
@KerryHolleran Noel is tough and fun to watch, but I am with you, want to see the Cats pull this out and I think they will. Cant see those turnovers holding in the second half
@ClarkJosh80@travyyy06 Same here. He gave Carolina fans the best memories that any fan base could have hoped for. Wherever he goes, if it is not Chapel Hill, he is always my second fav #2 in blue (shoutout to Joel Berry)
@ClarkJosh80@travyyy06 Agreed. We can all be upset about things like shot selection and hope he grows as a player, but the "please transfer" camp is a little too much. I hope he makes the best decision for him, even if that means he goes G League, portal or stays a tarheel.
