𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 “𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗚𝗜𝗚𝗜𝗦𝗔?”

Many of us started out as someone who wanted to be Einstein, Newton, or Armstrong, but went out of school hating science. Why?

Research, once the ultimate tool of human progress, 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. We have traded the thrill of "Why?" for the paralyzing terror of "Is this formatted correctly?"

The "guardians of knowledge" have become gatekeepers of fear. The traumatic "panggigisa" culture during defenses isn't about academic rigor, 𝗶����’𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗴𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿��� 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁'𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁. When a defense becomes a trial rather than a mentorship, we are manufacturing a labor force traumatized in science.

𝗡𝗼 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝘆.

By allowing this culture of academic "canceling" and ego-centric teaching to persist, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀����𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁.

This is how we lose. We create a vacuum where unscientific policies and misinformation thrive because our citizens were taught that "science" is a source of pain, not progress.

����𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 '𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗮' 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. We need to mentor, not crush; to guide, and not gatekeep. If we don’t safeguard the wonder of science today, we lose the breakthroughs of tomorrow.
