As I exposed yesterday Ralph Alvarado @AlvaradoForKY, who is running for Congress in the GOP Primary in Kentucky’s 6th District to fill @barrforsenate Andy Barr’s open seat, first endorsed Senator Rand Paul @RandPaul for President in 2016, even speaking at Paul’s presidential announcement against Donald Trump in the GOP Primary.

Despite this fact, Alvarado was still given a prime-time speaking slot at the 2016 GOP Convention in Cleveland, Ohio. So, how did this happen?!?

The answer is simple: Mitch McConnell @SenMcConnell.

As it became clear that Donald Trump was going to win the 2016 GOP nomination, McConnell went out of his way to ensure that Alvarado met Trump and was given a speaking slot at the 2016 GOP National convention. This was highlighted in a Politico article after the fact:

“US Sen. McConnell on Sen. Alvarado's speech: He made KY proud, glad America got to see this impressive leader. He has a bright future in the GOP.”

So why did McConnell go out of his way to introduce an individual who supported Rand Paul over President Trump?
