Police shoot driver's puppy dog during traffic stop—in middle of crowded store parking lot.

"The dog was just walking towards him and the cop shot the dog," said witness.

"Then I personally saw cop laughing on the phone about it right after."

"He drew his weapon instantly and that was his first move."

Police officer continues to hold the driver at gunpoint—with gun out and pointed directly at him.

Cop claimed he pulled the man over because he couldn't read his license plate.

The gunshot went through the dog's lung—awaiting surgery in an oxygen chamber.

Incident occurred at a Dollar General parking lot in Los Lunas, New Mexico.
