This is shameful.

Congressional Republicans advanced a bill that slashes support to help pregnant women and young mothers, and toddlers get fruits and vegetables, hurting mothers, the very people who need good nutrition the most.

It also makes our whole country less healthy while hurting America's farmers who grow the fresh produce communities depend on.

About 400 sites managed by the National Park Service are facing a maintenance backlog estimated at more than $24 billion, but the money aimed for repairs is being diverted. The Trump administration has reportedly used at least $90 million from national park entry fees to help pay for beautification efforts in the nation's capital ahead of the America 250 celebration.

"2 kids from here

I'm not gonna sugarcoat this

I was bout to cry…

I'm in Madison Square Garden

In the 4th quarter

Playing with these guys

And we're playing for something special…

Couldn't put it into words…

But we've got one more to do"

“Contrary to popular belief, handwriting is not merely a motor skill; it is also a written language skill.…handwriting leads to better perception of letters in reading than does keyboarding. Forming letters by hand might help create the letter form in the mind’s eye better than does selecting them by key press.”

One of my favourite articles in support of explicit handwriting instruction that includes teaching letter formation, directionality, and correct pencil grip to support both decoding and spelling skill development.

“Academic accommodations for anxiety convey two harmful messages. First, they imply that the feared situation is truly dangerous. Public speaking, testing, or lunch with classmates are too risky for a student. Second, they suggest that the student can’t withstand the distress. Those messages increase anxiety.”

What a fantastic article!! Eliminating things that cause anxiety don’t teach students how to cope with difficult situations and can heighten anxiety in the long term!! Avoidance is a TEMPORARY solution but can be harmful in the long run!

This article is well worth the read: https://t.co/S7iqcQBpxK @BostonGlobe @TeachersCollege

@GladysICruz Clearly there’s a break in the recruitment pipeline. Underrepresentation of leaders of color: About 87% of respondents identified as White, with only 4.7% Black and 4.4% Hispanic/Latino superintendents; 73% male, 27% female.
