I hate that this needs to be clarified but:
No, Elon did not criticize Trump personally first.
Trump criticized Elon first.
Elon criticized Trumpโs bill first.
Trump commented on Elon around June 5, 12:08pm ET during a press conference.
At 12:46 pm ET Elon commented on X in response to Trumpโs press conference โWithout me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.โ
The bill and moving forward is what we should focus on, but the truth matters.

Your argument is fundamentally flawed. How many times will it change?
You say:
-The President should not have emergency powers.
-Only Congress can levy taxes.
-Tariffs are inherently bad.
-Tariffs will weaken America.
-Tariffs threaten liberty.
Firstly, tariffs are not a tax. There is a very important distinction between tariffs and taxes.
Taxes specifically target citizens and are not optional.
Tariffs on the other hand target nations and trade both broadly and specifically to protect markets and industries as well as a means of generating revenues.
Tariffs are either absorbed or passed along partially or wholly depending upon the margins of the producers and the competitiveness of the markets. The greater the competition and demand in the market, the lower the pricing to consumers.
Unlike taxes, consumers have options with tariffed products. They can buy comparable products at better prices, pay the tariffed price or not buy at all.
Finally, businesses have the option to produce their products in the most desirable market to maximize efficiencies, quality and revenues.
The @POTUS is leveraging tariffs as part of a comprehensive economic plan that includes lower taxes on American citizens and tariffs across global markets to simultaneously generate revenues, open markets and create a favorable business environment to increase jobs in the US and bring supply chains home to protect national security.
So in summary, tariffs are best utilized by the President to onshore supply chains and protect national security and will create revenues to the government and more jobs for US citizens. Combined with lower taxes and increased disposable income, Americans will have more liberty not less and the US will be stronger not weaker.
Only through the Executive Branch, not Congress, is this comprehensive policy implementation possible.
Every single reason you have given to restrict the Executive Branch is easily refuted and demonstrably flawed.
The real question and concern is: Why do you lecture the 77 million voters who support this plan instead of working to implement it in a timely manner?
In doing so, you become the real threat to liberty, not tariffs and certainly not the President of the United States.
