The 5th FIM IOC closed earlier today. Draft conclusions have been agreed as were statements in support of campaigns to protect musicians in the UK, France and Romania. Thanks to all participants for making this conference such a positive and enjoyable experience @fim_musicians
Final panel session of the 2nd day of the @fim_musicians IOC was preceded by a fantastic performance provided by members of the MFI (India) delegation. Body & mind, work/life balance, and the changing work pattern of the orchestral musician all discussed today
Very successful first day of the 5th FIM International Orchestras Conference (IOC) rounded off with a concert by the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. We enjoyed high-level, thoughtful contributions from delegates from all continents. Two more days to go @fim_musicians

Many, many congratulations to Roger Wright on his well deserved knighthood for services to music. I’m delighted to hear such good news @rogerandout56 @BrittenPears@fim_musicians
We call for the immediate release of Iranian rapper Toomaj Salehi, sentenced to death by the Isfahan Revolutionary Court. His crime: his support to the demonstrations that followed the death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022. #SaveToomaj#FreeToomaj#ToomajSalehi#ArtisticFreedom
A celebration of the life of Glen Barnham, who passed last Autumn, with friends & colleagues attending from @EquityUK, @PPLUK, BBC, ERA, @TheBRITSchool, @WeAreTheMU & more. As mentioned in the tweet below he had a profound impact in his role at Equity & will be missed by so many.
@E_N_O Spare a thought for the members of the orchestra and chorus - the heart of any opera company - who now have to decide whether to relocate on part-time contracts, or leave. Looks like the end of ENO as a national company @fim_musicians
For @Spotify, sharing music revenues with artists is not an option. Behind the smokescreen of Spotify's flawed arguments, there is an unfair business model that needs to be re-designed ASAP. Enough is enough! #fixstreaming

Congratulations to our CEO @PeterLeathem on receiving his OBE honour for services to the music industry today. Peter has spent the vast majority of his career in music, an industry he loves without reserve. Peter, from all at team PPL, it is our honour to work with you. #legend🧡
Commendable & principled action by Martyn Brabbins. Support @WeAreTheMU and fight this devastating attack on ENO & it’s musicians. @fim_musicians

Today we lost a wonderful colleague. David was my first appointment at PPL 19 years ago and he turned out to be one of the key people who created the PPL of today. An incredibly able lawyer, a thoroughly kind and conscientious friend and colleague. I will miss him greatly.
David Harmsworth, PPL General Counsel, died this morning after a short illness. David will be hugely missed by many, and we are all devastated. Our thoughts are with his family.
