This really depends on the studio and who's making it, and whether I trust them to do the book justice.

But also 10 million is 10 million and they might just end up letting the IP sit on the shelf for a decade.

You can either have £10 million, but they have full control over how they adapt your book, or £1 million, but you retain creative control; in both cases, you get 5% royalties.

The only thing I can tell you is that you HAVE to write, even if you're not motivated to do it. You'll find the motivation starts flowing into you once you start.
