While gold pulls back amid profit-taking and higher inflationary pressures including oil and the rising USD, smart money is loading up.

China’s PBoC just bought another ~10 tonnes in May, its 19th straight month of accumulation, the longest streak since at least 2015.

Beijing is capitalizing on the dip to accelerate de-dollarization and strengthen its monetary position. Reserves now sit at ~2,332 tonnes and rising.

The long game on gold as a strategic reserve asset is very much still on.

BREAKING: Anti-Trust Probe Hits Sobeys.

@mindingottawa reports this morning that the Competition Bureau is asking the Federal Court to compel disclosure of confidential lease agreements held by Sobeys' parent company, Empire.

The Bureau alleges Empire may have used restrictive real estate clauses to limit grocery competition in 51 markets across Canada.

What's remarkable is that this investigation comes after decades of merger approvals that transformed Canada's grocery sector from 13 major chains to essentially three dominant players.

The legal filings reveal the Bureau is examining whether property controls prevented competitors from opening stores near Sobeys-affiliated locations.

This could become one of the most significant grocery competition cases in Canada in years.

What if Exxon and Chevron are right and working inventory levels are about to be breached in the coming weeks resulting in a price spike?
