NYC has one of the highest taxes in the country yet it can’t keep its blocks clean and keep violent crackheads off of the streets. Letting repeat offenders out over and over for taxpayers to deal with it. And your answer is to tax even more without solving ANY of the quality of life concerns so many NYers have now.
Your solution for the insane crackheads is to go and ask them if they need help and if they say no, leave there there to threaten people until they finally do hurt someone. Then once they do, release them without bail, even though they have a long record. This isn’t homeless people I’m talking about, I’m talking about the insane drug addicts. Big difference.
So sick of the stupidity yet NYers keep voting the same people in power. All while Florida is removing property tax, no state tax, low regulations to encourage business and attracting the mega rich weekly. But you want to tax the rich more? There’s is a breaking point and it’s already being hit for many. Improve the quality of life DRAMATICALLY before asking for even more money.
That was a long response. Ha
I’m all for all of that and deployment at high risk stations is a great approach. That all makes sense but there is still plenty of room for improvement is my point.
I saw a family get threatened today at a high risk station and then the homeless person continued to threaten the rest of train. No one should have that as part of their daily commute that they pay for.
Being trapped on a train with a mentally ill person, yelling and threatening people, is a recipe for disaster and something that grows extremely tiring.
That needs to be a focus. There’s a big difference between law abiding citizens needing a helping hand, which I’m all for, and a mentally ill, drug addict who isn’t able to follow the law or act in a civil way.
@AshCrypto People should press the administration to put a stop to it and crack down hard on this tactic to protect regular investors.
Write your senators, representatives, president, etc.
It’s not too late.
@Polymarket No big deal. As soon as I climb over this 4 foot wall of ice and avoid the dog 💩 and homeless people shooting up, I’ll then get to finally enter my home, that you want to tax me even more money to live in. Sounds great!
Maybe you should talk about ways you can SAVE money and not require anyone to pay more. Increasing taxes while the quality of life for the actual taxpayers continues to drop is a recipe for the rich to leave and for Florida growth.
Sure, you can say only a small percent will leave but then what’s the point? Also, the more these other tax free cities grow with the wealthy, the more the local culture will grow with new museums, etc and the high quality schools will expand.
The more that happens, the easier it will be to leave. So many businesses are tired of it.
Home ownership offers a lot of benefits:
After you pay the down payment on your home (let’s say 10% down) the monthly payment won’t be much more than rent, assuming you find a good deal
The interest is a tax write off as well
As other tax breaks to encourage home ownership
Every year you live there, more of your payment goes to the principal
The house value may only go up 3-5% a year but that’s on the whole houses value, yet you only put up the down payment. So, if you put down $80k and the house is $800k, you’re making 3-5% of $800k, not just your $80k.
In stocks, you generally only make money on what you put up.
Last, as for your payment, you have to pay rent regardless. So, you put the money down and a little more a month to get all of those benefits.
Once the value goes up, you can sell
and roll that into a new house tax free.
Then you still buy stocks and other assets with your remaining investment funds. So, both stocks and houses are great but if you plan on living in the home for a while, it’s a solid investment when you add it all together.
@courtsideqk Just to break from the norm and have some versatility with players who can all be the alpha but also be a team player with nice passing and blocks too:
Magic, Wade, Bird, KG, Jokic
KG best season was 32pt 7.4reb 5.5ast 1.3 stl .7 blk 3.5 turnovers 2.4 3ptrs
Wade best season was 30.2pt 5reb 7.5ast 2.2stl 1.3blk 3.4 turnovers 1.1 3pters
Very close stats actually
KG got regular season MVP but Wade got Finals MVP and 3 rings vs 1. Which would you rather have?
6 months ago, Raoul Pal said we are in an elongated business/debt cycle and that bitcoin would climb higher and then we would see a -35% drawdown and “everyone will be sure that it is over… and it won’t be over.”
You need to watch this again. And again. And again.
