@NicoleLaurane Grandfathered athletes are only athletes who entered college in 2024 or 2025. Also if you had a grandfather tag at another school it follows you to new school. So she may have a tag on her. But only true freshman and true sophomores right now can have the tag
@CounterptSports But he grew tremendously and is now playing as a sophomore. He would have never developed at a juco. Grow where your feet are planted.
@CounterptSports Dumb dumb narrative. Sometimes the year of growth sitting the bench, learning the system and getting the use of the amenities that help you grow are more important. Especially if you are at the school that you want to be at. My son played very little his freshman year.
@GamecockNiner@Tiger_Furse@Jcdeacon I agree 100 that the rule is black and white. And should be upheld. I’m asking does the rule truly line up with arm care? It seems it needs be adjusted (for future)
@Tiger_Furse@Jcdeacon But is it about the health of the arm? Because I heard the AR pitcher threw the night before too and threw approx 20+ pitches and 71 the next day. He technically threw more combined pitches in 2 days vs 2 pitches and 83.
@andybidochka My kid absolutely loves it. Looks forward to it every year. When he is done at the end of the summer he puts the bat and ball down to play football so the burn out doesn’t happen for him. He’s already talking about next summer being his last summer of us doing it together
@Ryan_McGlynn@CoachMConnelly@CoachMarcusHill I would say each team we played at an ace at 85+ but most of the other pitchers were 82-84 and we definitely played several teams that had 78-80. Only 1 team in our region had a guy that was shelling out 15k’s a game. MLB scouts at all games.
@CoachMConnelly@CoachMarcusHill Amen. My son is tall and lanky. He is a good 24 but no where near ready to consistently play with 185+lbs men. He will grow playing the South East summer ball circuit. We’re in upstate SC
@CoachMarcusHill@CoachMConnelly My son is a 24 and saw 78-84 avg this varsity season. He will see 88-91ish this summer and be challenged. You’d have a better argument to say don’t play HS ball.
@CoachMarcusHill@CoachMConnelly You’re saying it as if playing 16u is a step down from HS ball. Most people are trying to tell you that 16u ball for a 16 year old on the summer circuit is more challenging and you can grow from it. It’s not a step down.
@G_Glad11@CoachMarcusHill@bgjole And playing with 17 and 18 yr olds in summer ball is not the same as the varsity players they are facing and playing with.
@CoachMarcusHill@CoachMConnelly 16u baseball in the south is way more competitive then HS. Playing with 17-18 year olds on varsity is not like playing with a team of 17-18yr olds on the circuit during the summer.
