She/her/hers. I am currently an MSW student @DominguezHills in the #csudhMSW program. Hoping to learn new things to apply to my practice and help others.
Just submitted my last assignment of the semester... Feels great to say that I’m officially done with my first year of grad school! So much work and so thankful for support from my colleagues and loved ones ❤️ #MSWStudent
I have officially been cleared to start as an employee at my internship! So excited for this opportunity to continue to grow and work with my clients 😊
I had a really long conversation with my dad tonight about White privilege and systems of oppression. It was not an easy conversation, and there were many things we just couldn’t agree on. But these conversations are so important to have and help us all become better/more aware.
Thanks for the chat! I enjoyed reading all of your responses and diving further into our profession. Thanks to @AlyssaLotmore and @OfficialMacroSW#MacroSW#CSUDHmsw501
A5: I think the best way to educate ourselves as professionals is to utilize resources to learn more about systems of oppression and open the dialogue with our clients. Gaining awareness of issues at a micro and macro level is crucial. #MacroSW
A4: At a professional level, I think it’s important to implement trauma-informed systems and consider how oppression/privilege affect our clients. I am also passionate about assisting the homeless and improving the lack of services for this population. #MacroSW
A2: I often relate Social Work history with Jane Addams and Mary Richmond who helped set the foundation for this profession. Also, the continuous fight for equal rights for those who are continuously oppressed and marginalized. #MacroSW
A1: I’ve always wanted to be able to make a difference and positively impact others’ lives anyway that I could. I want to help those who may need additional assistance and advocate to help have their voices heard #MacroSW
If we’re going to combat homophobia and transphobia in this country, we must pass the Equality Act to increase protections for LGBTQ+ Americans across the country. It’s on us to prove that no one will be left to fight alone.
I really enjoyed the chat and seeing everyone’s perspective on immigration and the many steps we can take to ensure that people are treated humanely. Special thanks to @OfficialMacroSW and @cheryl_aguilar#MacroSW#CSUDHmsw501
A3: I feel the presence of rising anti-immigrant rhetoric has a major impact on psychological well-being and can lead to overwhelming stress, anxiety, and fear. Then there is limited or no access to mental health services to help #macrosw#CSUDHmsw501
Immigrants may experience barriers to receiving necessary resources, fear of being deported and targeted by others, and being separated from family. #macrosw#CSUDHmsw501
