Climate Change: Adaptation, Resilience & Energy Security Are Key. Symbolic CO₂ Prevention Risks Financial Suicide and Undermines Independence.
1/ Bottom line: Human systems and good governance matter far more than raw weather. We should prioritize building resilience and smart adaptation over rushed, uncertain prevention efforts that burden economies today for minimal global impact. Real catastrophes prove this.
@FiredUpCoug Perfectly right. The distances in the US are so vast. And CA demonstrates vast cost over runs for even high speed rail within state - let alone cross country
@peterrhague Anything ceremonial needs to be non functional from a threat to life perspective. Otherwise is a descendant of a Japanese samurai allowed to carry a sword?
@TheEconomist Ok. Misleading. Even if victimhood is equal what’s the breakout of the perpetrators? Seriously victims are equally split? Who gives a crap about that stat? What misleading garbage.
@dubseatv Let’s be clear - light rail sucks. It’s slow and expensive. Have you seen the Chinese version that has no rails and simply follows painted on lines in the road. Far better. Light rail will be usurped by robocabs within 5 years anyhow. Wasted investment.
@alojoh You are right. A diversified 79% return is far better than a 100% single stock return - no matter the stock. That said I believe every portfolio should have some exposure to sell run companies that have the potential to go 5x or more.
@CosmicNomad44 Yes and that’s the best kind of business. If your explicit goal is only profit, you pander to perceived needs that no one really has. Steve Jobs said something like the customer doesn’t know what they want. He was right. Mission first.
@sowelleconomics Why is he wasting his time? He won’t get the votes and even if he does there will be presidential veto. It’s another - see success and tax it - whackamole move straight out of the socialist playbook.
Check the community note from the Npcc website. What even does this mean? ‘Our commitment to racial equity means Producing equality of policing outcomes for people from different
ethnic groups by responding to individuals and communities according
to their specific needs, circumstances and experiences, with understanding that these will be racialised and with the aim of reducing harm.
It does not mean treating everyone ‘the same’ or being ‘colour blind’ (racial
equality).’
To me it seems simple that policing violent acts should be color blind. Safety should be afforded to everyone. I can imagine a lot of police officers, sheep dipped through this training, are thoroughly confused.
This needs to be fixed.
@visegrad24@Micro2Macr0 Is the large ceremonial knife sharp and dangerous? If so it should be banned. Otherwise make it out of plastic and blunt and only allow it in actual ceremonies- not walking around.
All government dietary advice is lagging and cyclical. Eggs are demonized for cholesterol in one decade and then praised in another. Red meat is a complete protein. People are better making informed decisions themselves. We all have the tools at our fingertips. This is truly one area where we don’t need government intervention.
@FollowIncentiv Partially. I did some research and bought some $MU on the Iran war dip and it has more than 2x. I wish I’d have done more! I really think it has the potential to 5x. I agree on the long term $Tsla and always have - but have yourself some fun along the way
@visegrad24@HRHmaggie Wow you remember the NWA rap song from 1988 ‘ F*** tha police’. If this is how they respond then the UK really is lost. Safety is the bare minimum of expectations. Do better UK.
@Keir_Starmer What are you doing to fix the problem and address whatever police protocol resulted in inadequate medical response to Henry’s fatal wounds? Forget about accusing politicians - fix the problems.
@TimTim1254@europa Of all things British police must surely be knowledgeable about stab wounds. They should have conducted a thorough check or immediately called for medical aid. Especially when the person is so evidently weak and getting weaker by the second.
@Handre My sentiments exactly. Maybe 100 years ago they also wanted to take a 50% stake in automobile manufacturing because of the loss of jobs in the horse and cart industry.
