“Don’t come back to Peckham!” A walk of shame for police and immigration enforcement officers, leaving the estate after releasing the person they detained. Community solidarity works.
When Black people told everyone the police are very often incompetent and often only end up exacerbating situations rather than actually helping, we were told to shut the fuck up and stop lying by these very people. So I’ll be so real, I’m not trying to hear all of this. At all.
THREAD: The collapse of higher education in the UK is misunderstood by almost everyone involved. We are told it is because of volatile international student markets. The truth is more to do with real estate and capital investment. Here is what is going on: in places like the US
Bodycam footage of Henry Nowak, as he’s slowly dying, is most grotesquely surreal thing I’ve ever watched. The officer managing the situation shouldn’t be allowed to walk a dog, let alone be a police officer. He should be dismissed.
Can’t imagine being a parent & seeing that.
As Hasan Picker and Cenk Uygur are denied entry to the UK, it’s worth remembering that Isaac Herzog — accused of “direct and public incitement to commit genocide” by the UN Commission of Inquiry report — was welcomed by Keir Starmer on the steps of No10 in September.
I was supposed to chair the @hasanthehun discussion at SXSW this week, who's been banned from entering the UK by Shabana Mahmood. First of all, @sxsw must facilitate a way for Hasan and Cenk to contribute remotely, as a bare minimum refusal to comply with government censorship.
In November 2023, police found the decayed corpse of Tracey Turnell in Walthamstow Market.
She had no phone, job, passport, friends or lovers. There wasn’t a single photo of her.
I pieced together who she was and who was responsible for @_TheLondoner

Counter terror police stopped and interrogated an independent cafe owner, in order to intimidate him before offering him financial benefits to spy on Palestine Action.
Instead of taking the offer, he went public to expose the state. https://t.co/VW5M75luYm
2 trains cancelled in AM. Hour late for meeting. WiFi & signal doesn’t work, so call not possible.
Going back: Waterloo like Euston. 3 excuses for delay in 2 mins (person on tracks, signals, no driver).
Thank you, @Heidi_Labour, for creating the first ‘4th world’ rail service!
Wow, the Thames sure does look lovely in this heatwave doesn’t it?
Imagine if we could build a beautiful floating lido in the middle of London that allowed people to cool off in the Thames in clean, safe water, & avoid any conflicts with wildlife & shipping traffic.
Now imagine that there was a fully costed proposal to provide such a lido at no cost to the public purse, but which would have boosted tourism & made the city a much better place for everyone ti live in.
Now imagine that this proposal was blocked by a petty faceless bureaucrat & there is no way for the Mayor, the people of London or even the government to challenge it, because Queen Victoria gave ownership of the tidal Thames to an unaccountable group of conservators who became @LondonPortAuth, & now run the most important river in the country as their private fiefdom.
It’s time to take back control of our river from this faceless & unaccountable organisation & give it back to the people & the nature of London to be restored for both their interests.
Not the season we all envisioned. But we survived. I’m proud of the boys. Your effort today was incredible. To the fans, you were incredible. I wish I could have been there. I wish I could have played my part. Now it’s time to start rebuilding.🤍
This research by Queen Mary University of London should be a wake up call for the UK government and judicial institutions:
286 political prisoners in Britain, held in relation to their activism for Palestinian rights or against fossil fuel.
Prison sentences for acts of direct action or civil disobedience (which were once rare) are now being imposed with increasing length and frequency.
In Great Britain.

Yet another sacked and disgraced South Wales Police officer can't be named in the press. The force says it would be bad for their mental health.
The PCC just nods along. Surely at some point an elected official has to speak out on this?
Great work by @ConorGogarty.
BREAKING: The Court of Appeal judgment on the legality of the Palestine Action ban, will come out at 11AM on Monday 15th June at the Royal Courts of Justice, London.
