A belated notice Jordi Muria Gonzalez will join the lab early 2023 to work on in planta fungicide metabolism. A chemist hailing from Mexico, Jordi did his PhD at ANU with @petersolomon99 on fungal metabolites then @theCCDM helped dissect the molecular basis of barley diseases.

Dear Mycologist (or not) folks,
Any suggestion for the most effective DNA extraction method for field-collected specimen (not cultured), for sequencing using @nanopore?

We should be funding scientists, not projects: grants to individual scientists should be the norm. Also, ideally we would fund scientists only based on their previous work (the best predictor of more good work - not a research proposal) and just trust them to do good science.
