[NEWS] Two surveys are revealing a trust gap dealers can close:
Used-car buyers who skip VIN checks are discovering problems within months of purchase, some spending up to $3,000 or more on repairs within two years.
The survey showed that 62% of affected buyers never ran a VIN check.
And, 49% of affected buyers purchased from a dealership, nearly equal to the 51% who bought from private sellers.
A separate survey shows 27% of drivers are now delaying routine repairs like brakes and tires due to rising gas prices.
What this means for dealers: Walking buyers through a VIN report and disclosing inspection findings proactively is not just good ethics.
It is a competitive selling point that builds the trust most dealers are leaving on the table.
