I played Gray Zone Warfare for 12 hours today and this is what I have to say.
I really enjoyed it, it's exactly the type of game I've always wanted.
The foundation is solid, the future is bright and I can't wait to see how far this game progresses. I've played a lot of early access games in my time of playing for a hobby and for a career and GZW has been my favorite experience in the EA category.
I was fortunate to play last week and being honest I didn't see much of a muchness in terms of change. (Which isn't a bad thing at all). Performance was the same and good for me personally but that's because I have a good PC build. The AI now and more satisfactory to kill & more rewarding as last week they felt a "sponge" with aimbot.
I was hoping for a few more additions today in comparison to last week like, day/night/weather cycles, armbands, keybind integration for changing VoIP, radio coms and so on but I know they're coming soon, so I'm not that upset.
The most infuriating thing with it all is the reviews on steam and the constant questions with "hows your performance, I saw the reviews, it looks bad and is it a scam?". I constantly had to remind everyone who asked what Early Access meant. Nowadays it seems like people expect EA games to be completed.
I read the reviews and they were exactly what I would of guessed them to be, constant comparisons to Tarkov, when it's NOTHING like it. Then complaints about their performance when they had only 20 or so minutes in the game. They probably spent more time reviewing it than being in the game themselves.
I had some rubber banding and memory leaks but they would only last a few seconds or so every hour or two.
To summarize;
I'm excited to see where the progression goes with GZW, I'm really looking forward in continuing to create the best content I can around it. The team have a lot of work to do but I feel like the worst/hardest has passed for now, and It's only up from here.
