I remember this one Linebacker…
He had trouble reading the PULLERS.
So we broke it down.
Film, drills, reps.
Eventually, it just clicked.
And he started flying to the point of attack.
An awesome thing to witness.

Linebackers:
When you’re making a tackle, don’t REACH.
Bring your feet.
A coaching point I like:
“Step on the Ball Carrier’s toes.”
You’ll miss less tackles.
If you’re an undersized Linebacker, read this:
1. Become a student of the game. Study film, break down your opponents, learn everything there is to know about the position.
2. Use your speed. Whenever possible, choose speed over power.
3. Master the fundamentals. When it’s time to take on a blocker, or tackle a bigger Running Back, you’ll need to use great technique.
4. Perform. Let’s be honest, if you’re an undersized Linebacker, there’s no room for error. Your job is to leave NO DOUBT that you should be playing.
5. Be relentless. Relentless in your preparation, relentless in your physicality, relentless in your pursuit. You must WILL yourself to greatness.
6. Don’t listen to the critics. Some of the greatest Linebackers of all time were undersized. Keep working.
