The year has been a year of revived esteem for healthcare workers who have literally put their lives on the lines to serve others.
This Thanksgiving, we honor and thank everyone who put others first in these unprecedented times.
But it can’t stop with Thanksgiving.

@sacjai is a leader that engages his teams tactically and strategically. It is no surprise that he is challenging his team to think differently, deeply and impactfully.
We were thrilled to host @bhangrajay at @scanhealthplan today who shared a tremendous vision for “Age-Friendly Health Systems” drawing from work with @TheIHI and @johnahartford. Some of Jay’s key observations.
Some of Jay’s key observations (in thread):
@sacjai@SOMOSCare The worked closely with Medicaid HMOs, Medicare Dual programs and embraced NYS DSRIP @policywonk1 to grow to >2,000 healthcare providers across NYC, Westchester and LI and are on the front lines of COVID-19. Their mission never changed just tactics and strategies.
@sacjai@SOMOSCare This small group of dedicated physicians managed to address the needs of mainly Medicaid and Medicare Duals, uninsured and undocumented on Medicaid and Medicare FFS. They innovated to accept risk and quality payments. Innovation out of necessity not out of an academic idea.
This is what leadership looks like ... thoughtful and insightful. I am thankful for people like Dr Tallaj and his colleagues on the front lines and thought leaders like @sacjai@policywonk1 and others pushing agendas that serve the underserved & vulnerable.
OPINION | NYC urgently needs a comprehensive plan to regularly test and screen public schools for COVID-19.
Until there is a vaccine, schools, especially in at-risk, so-called “hot spots,” must have daily screening and testing capabilities.

@sacjai So true. Perhaps "leadership" "believes" too much in self directed healthcare, benefit designs that drive care to low cost settings (oh yeah, and quality) ... the employees are often "proof of concept" of new programs for employer groups sales.
@CoachGoodale@DeionSanders@PhilMickelson Slight twist. 100% agree. Bo Jackson, too. I would argue that the football team that could play today with its then roster and compete in the NFL today as a team was the Dallas Cowboys from 1994 on ... size, speed and Deon.
@drantbradley It is an issue that is global not just American. It is about perspective ... not intelligence or the ability of "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps." It is why it is so important to expose people to new ideas, opportunities and environments.
@drantbradley One of the most devastating issues facing the poor is the lack of understanding of generational poverty by middle class pastors, teachers, educators and policy makers. They think "If I was poor I would ..." I suggest https://t.co/DH85Hv7ObF
@sacjai Spot on. And let's make sure we include "non profits" that do just enough charity care, Medicaid etc to keep their status ... and some of these "non profits" are pretending to be leaders. They are just as bad as some for profits, or worse - hypocrisy.
@policywonk1@SOMOSCare It was your leadership of DSRIP that allowed SOMOS to grow and help those that need a little (or a lot) of help ... those often marginalized. SOMOS goes where people were abandoned.
@drantbradley And he trains harder! Nothing builds a bond better between a father and son than shared experiences, struggle, pain, and gain. When you are "with" him he looks at you and knows he is not alone. And one day he is alone, he knows you were there.
@drantbradley#truth When my 11 year old trains for his U13 soccer team I train with him, not train him. We run together. We do cone drills, one touch passing, shuttle runs together. He loves it when I work with him ... Be the "player coach" not just the "coach."
@drantbradley Way of the Warrior Kid: From Wimpy To WARRIOR the Navy Seal Way by Jocko Willink. A refreshing take on how a boy needs to stand up for himself and learn to be a young man.
13 years ago, I emailed Dr. Fauci out of the blue to ask if I might interview him for my undergrad thesis. He invited me to his office, where he answered all my questions. When I sent him the thesis, HE READ THE WHOLE THING (see his overly effusive review below). Who does that?!
