@Lefty_Mind@WordsandGuitar The company doesn't appear to care about employees OR customers. How often do you go into a Tim Hortons and there are older people (read the most vulnerable) hanging out together?
Every cancellation saves lives.

A5 to clarify, I feel conflicted that this approach lets the first S off the hook so to speak, but the class benefits from ultimately hearing some deeper thinking #wbeteamlearning
A5 I use probing but sometimes Ss are reluctant to go further with their response. So, I ask other Ss to raise their hands if they agree. Then ask them to explain their thinking with evidence #wbeteamlearning
@CarolineBlack39 I was kind of blown away by the difference between those two questions. It is amazing how just one word can make all the difference in encouraging responses #wbeteamlearning
@jacbalen@teacherhead A3 P2 You might also group the #poi into two groups using the learning model (pg.11) 1st group - #poi that help Ss focusing attention on info from environment. 2nd group - #poi that help students cycle info between working and longterm memory #wbeteamlearning
@jacbalen@teacherhead A3 P1 I find the groupings useful. By combining them with these common elements I am better able to understand where each of the #poi fit in the release of responsibility from teacher to student #wbeteamlearning
@jacbalen A2 P2 Also, checking for understanding is SO important. We don't want Ss strengthening "a misconception or an incomplete model..." #wbeteamlearning
@jacbalen A2 P1 The TOA helps me understand how much importance should be placed on formative assessment in the class. Ss need a multiple opportunities and a variety of tasks for material to go into longterm memory #wbeteamlearning
Super tip from @RetrieveLearn: Don't ask students what they did over the summer. Ask this instead! https://t.co/cGxibM8OIp
What did YOU learn over the summer? My answer: 2 new ideas—the Overton window & the Kentucky Pack Horse project

@jacbalen Thanks! Voices that resonate and provide confidence are important, but so are diverse voices that challenge us examine our practice and ourselves, and to stay fresh and accountable
@jacbalen Exactly. Rosenshine discusses teachers “whose classrooms made the highest gains on achievement tests.” (pg. 59) He looks at common practices amongst teachers who improve results on those measures. But what other criteria could/should we use? #wbeteamlearning
A1: Pt 3 The amount and type of evidence behind the principles provide confidence that these are best practices and will have a meaningful impact on Ss learning. #wbeteamlearning
@jacbalen @CarolineBlack39 Choosing what research to read further is a challenge for me because of the quantity. It’s difficult to know where to begin. One way I choose is by checking to see what colleagues whose voices resonate with me are reading #wbeteamlearning
