E Parabéns Alisson! Siga voando!
This 1977 clip of her singing “Old Black Kettle” with her mama, daddy, and siblings now hits differently.
It’s her standing in the middle of the people who made her, singing about the simple life that shaped her before the rhinestones and the world knew her name.
“I had a good heart”
What Dolly’s Mama said about her daughter…
Remembering the goodness and generosity of Dolly Parton 💖🩷💝
(Thank you Country Music Tunes)
Dolly Parton says she wrote “I Will Always Love You” after standing up for herself for being paid only $60,000 yearly
She was being paid $60,000 a year, which initially sounded enormous to her, but her salary didn’t increase as the show became more successful.
She says it was difficult to ask her boss for a raise, especially because he was strong-willed.
But Dolly knew she wanted more:
“I’m a songwriter. I want to be a solo artist. I want to have my own band. I want to have my own show. I want to have my own life.”
“And I don’t want to just be the girl singer in somebody else’s group.”
That’s when she wrote “I Will Always Love You.”
