@LockedOnRockets@MadManLeaks Tried to create a more likely version of the two step process to trade up into this draft with warriors and clippers instead of clippers and jazz.
@PauloAlvesNBA Yeah agreed, something like this may have made sense when the gap between us and spurs/thunder wasn’t perceived as big. No half measures at this point, push chips all in or maximize draft capital to increase odds of getting a top 10 in the league talent.
@Unknownn2k It does not, Ja makes $30m more than Jerome. That’s the issue with trading for Ja you actaully have to give up some good players unless you have $40m in salary you want to dump.
@mirio26s Agreed, people forget Sengun is on a much better contract than Mobley. Even if you think Mobley is better, having him at north of $50m annually really constrains team building.
@GormanChristoph@ByVarunShankar Overall I like going after Jerome. Should be cheap backcourt depth on a good short contract, with some real upside. I would probably prefer to just trade one of capela or DFS and keep the first. Maybe use kings 2029 2nd instead of ours in 2028, as it would be a better pick.
@BillyReinhardt Why not trade MPJ for a 27 first, play the young guys and hope for better draft luck in 28? I don’t understand signing a bunch of vets just to get in the play in range and hurt 2028 draft odds. These vets won’t sign 1 year deals and won’t be in their prime for contend window
@HSTPodcast Fair point, I have heard it’s supposed to be a weaker draft, was not aware it was so weak that 6th pick may be better than top 3 next year.
@HSTPodcast For a chance at great pick next year. Bad teams should be willing to explore high upside options, rather than the best average outcome. Bad teams need a risk to go their way. Agree they should explore trading back, but two average/good picks doesn’t likely solve their problem.
@BradeauxNBA Am I crazy for thinking we offer 27 pick back for 6th? 5-10 is guard heavy prospects, which we need. Need more backcourt depth to compete with Thunder and Spurs, who have shown young guards can play early. Nets tank for 27 & 28, play their 25 picks this year, see what they got?
@BrooklynNetcast@BradeauxNBA You will want to still hold back though for the 2028 pick. Unless you are talking about 1 year rental vets, but wouldn’t it be better to play/develop the young players long term?Nets gain nothing winning 40 games just to make the pick worse for Rockets.
@Sam_Vecenie I would argue the threat of his offense has outweighed the defense
Reed has played poorly.
He has been forced into a role he clearly isn’t ready for.
But, we have won his minutes when he plays with starters due to threat of his offense, even though actual offense has been bad.
@DrDoctavious While shooting 14% worse from 3. Two things can be true, our young guys played very poorly, but they weren’t the main issue, got literally nothing from the vets
@RooshWilliams@RajChipalu Yeah made no sense. It’s clear there is no “plan” even on defense. Doesn’t get talked about much because generally a good defensive team. Go under on Smart. There was lack of clarity on how they wanted to react to Kennard which is mind boggling given you know he wants to shoot.
@RedNinetyFour I think about this in terms of making a run at Trey Murphy III. Immediate upgrade for KD era and someone you can pair with Amen/sengun post KD. Pels get picks to help make up for Queen trade, and Jabari could fit alongside Fears and Queen.
